Excellent!
I bought this to replace an aging and failing HDD to USB device I have had for well over a decade. I am familiar with Vantec products so after looking through what they had available for HDD>USB devices I settled on this one. I am very happy with it, it has worked fine for all of my drives so far. If all goes well I will probably keep this one for the foreseeable future.

Worked Fantastic! Recommend!
I am very happy with this product. I usually read all of the reviews (especially negative ones) before purchasing a product. This one had some not great reviews, but it was something I went against my gut and purchased anyways. I am really glad I did! I had a computer that was completely dead and I thought that I would never get anything off of my hard drive again. This could not have been easier to use. I followed a YouTube video to help with the hook up, but basically it took me 5 minutes to hook up to my dead hard drive and then about 1.5 hours of waiting for the files to transfer. It worked perfectly the first time. I did not have any complaints about the physical product or materials. I ended up getting all of my files off of the hard drive from my dead computer no problem in two hours. I would definitely recommend this product. I will keep this product tucked away in case I need it again, but I hope I don't! It was a great alternative than taking this to a store to fix the computer or recover the files. I'm sure that would have been over $100. This way, I spent around $20, saved a bunch of money, and never had to leave my house! Great product!

Surprisingly good!
Seems like a cheap, plastic gimmick, but it worked just as advertised. I adapted SATA, IDE, HDDs & ODDs. All worked fine. I even recovered a crashed external HDD that I was told would never work again. Transferred perfectly. The only issues were getting both data & power cables to fit side-by-side on the IDE drives (plug in data first, then power), and making sure the jumper is positioned correctly. Recovered valuable files I thought I'd never see again. Well worth the while.

Simple to use! Works exactly as expected!
I have a Rosewill RCW608, which is a USB 2.0 version of this, that Iโve used for years. I purchased the Vantec in order to upgrade to a USB 3.0 version. I have used it with both 2.5โ SATA SSD and a 3.5โ SATA HDD drives. Worked perfectly as expected. The included instructions are clear and easy to follow and even provides pictures making it idiotproof. The power supply for the Rosewill RCW608 is much smaller and more compact than the one that came with the Vantec. I use it instead of the one provided with the Vantec and am able to fit everything in a small case making it extremely portable. Overall, this is a great addition to anyoneโs tech arsenal. It should hold up well and last for many years. I would definitely recommend!

Great for temporally connecting a drive
A bare bones adapter, does what it is supposed to do. No enclosure, this is just fine for briefly connecting a drive. I had several old SATA drives that of which I wanted to view the contents. This would not be suitable it you planed to use the drive as a permanent external drive. For that you would want something with an enclosure.

Incredible device
This little device assembly does exactly what is advertised. On top of recovering data from multiple old hard drives, I can plug in my older internal DVD/CD burner to my new laptop and access all of my old optical disks. Being able to play older CD or DVD games again is cool. There are now businesses who charge a fortune to recover all of your older data and music. This device makes it just too simple.

This adapter itself is a great tool, but the power injector is total junk
This adapter itself is a great tool, but the power injector is total junk. I bought this adapter to erase/wipe some old hard drives I've had laying around because I did not want to recycle them until I could clean the drives. I had about 25 drives laying around including 2.5" IDE, 2.5 SATA, 3.5" IDE and 3.5" SATA. This seemed like the perfect tool to handle the task since it supported all those formats. When I received it the first drive I hooked up was a 2.5" IDE laptop drive that I had been wanting to get some data off of for years. Since the 2.5" IDE drive gets its power directly from the adapter, everything went smoothly. I hooked up the drive and attached the USB adapter to the computer and in 2 seconds flat, there were my files. I proceeded to burn the files I had wanted to DVD and then wipe the drive to securely remove any data using a DoD 3-pass overwrite. (takes a lot of time but it's worth it to have some peace of mind when I drop the drives off at the recycle center) After the booming success with the first drive I tried, I then moved on to a couple of 2.5" SATA drives. They were a little harder to hook up, but overall things went smoothly. The problems started when I moved on to the 3.5" IDE drives. When I could get the power connected and working properly, then things worked OK. But as time went on, it got harder and harder to get the power injector to properly power the drive. It got so bad that I found myself having to jiggle and move the wires around until I finally heard the drive spin up. Once it did then I was able to see the drive in the Windows Explorer, but unfortunately even the slightest bump or movement of the drive it would lose the power connection and lose connectivity. Things started to get very frustrating trying to get the drive powered on and then place the drive in such a way that it didn't lose the connection. If this had been years or even months before it started failing I wouldn't have complained but it went from just OK to junk after only 5 drives. Eventually I gave up and decided to crack open the side of my PC and use one of the leads from the computer power supply to power the drive and then used the USB adapter to get it connected to the PC. That's a little bit of a pain to work with but it's getting the job done. I would have returned the product for a new one or just a refund, but the adapter itself was doing what I needed and based on the quality of the parts being used for the power injector I have serious doubts it would have been any better the second time around. So I gave the product 3 stars because the adapter does do a great job of setting up the interface between all those old drives and the PC, but the included power injector is just pure junk.

Works great, easy setup
I gave my old USB 2.0 disk adapter to a good friend who needed one. Iโd had it for many years and it always worked great. So I went looking for an updated product to fill my needs. I found the Vantec SATA/IDE TO USB 3.0 Adapter (CB-ISA225-U3) and got one here through Amazon. It arrived as expected and Iโve already put it to work. First let me inform you what is in the box. This wasnโt at all clear to me from the product page. First, there is the USB adapter itself and a short, about 4โ, SATA cable. Then it has the power supply consisting of a wall wart (120v) and the components required to connect to either SATA or 4 pin modular for IDE. When hooked up to a disk drive, my experience was that Windows 10 found and mounted the partitions on the drive quickly. No additional software or drivers were needed. Transfers to and from the drive was as quick as if the drive were internal. The adapter has two status lights that show activity to and from the device. The power supply setup has an on/off switch but does not have a power status light. That is the only drawback I found with this adapter. Overall, I am very pleased with the device and its packing/shipment by Amazon.

Works great!
Works great to connect any of your old IDE/SATA hard drives to your computer via USB. I've taken many hard drives out of a computer that I was throwing out only to mean to deal with them later. This allows me to easily retrieve/explore the old hard drives. the USB connection is on the short side, so you'll want to have a place to rest the hard drive. Supports USB 3.0 like the description says, which really helps when copying over larger files. This is also very handy to turn any internal drive into an external hard drive. Highly recommend for all uses!
