Shifts way better than before
Shifts better than before, pretty easy install. Great quality built block. Fit perfectly.

Will fix 48RE transmission 1st - 2nd here shutter shifting
I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 48RE transmission. I should note that I do a fair amount of fifth wheel RV towing. It was shutter shifting between first and second gear regardless if I was towing or not. This ATS conversion kit, along with a BD Diesel Pressure Transducer, fixed the problem. I have driven over 2,000 miles since doing the conversion and my transmission is shifting like new again. The conversion is plug and play with basic tools. Update April 2022: 60,000 miles later I thought I was have the same symptoms again. Turns out it was actually my transmission’s intermediate band being way out of adjustment. Crawled under the vehicle in the driveway, performed the adjustment, and the transmission is shift perfectly again. Check your band adjustment if you develop a shifting problem after you have already installed the ATS conversion.

Fixed my shifting issue
Fixed a issue where the truck would go in and out of 2nd gear at slow speeds. Super easy to replace. Just drop the pan, 4 bolts, 2 plugs, and you need to move one piece over from the old part to the new part. And then put it back together

Ease of installation, makes shifting firm, and smooth
It absolutely solved all my shifting issues. Love the fact that it has a beefy GM solenoid, not sure why they never made them strong like these from factory. Amazing quality, very very happy!

Don't waste your money.
I did not notice any improvement in shifting. Does it work? Yes. Is it more reliable than the factory setup? I'm not convinced. This message is for the next person dealing with a random P0784 code after installing this product. Pay close attention to the short jumper harness that comes with it. The wire sheathing they used is not compatible with ATF — it softens and shrinks, exposing the wire itself. Additionally, the terminals were not crimped properly, and not all wire strands were captured. Once the sheathing shrinks, individual strands can poke out and create a direct short. Attached are some photos showing the issue. ATS did not seem concerned and only offered to send a replacement harness if I paid for it.

It works well…
This conversion did the job. I was having trouble with my 47RE not starting in first gear. Now it shifts great. The only problem I had with the unit was one of the mounting bolts was very close to the governor solenoid electrical connection almost making it impossible to install without changing that bolt. If not for that I would have given it 5 stars.

Mixed feelings about this
I changed this along with the BD transducer and it completely fixed the shutter shifting however a new problem developed that I never had before the install and my truck now starts off in second gear from a stop every time. Very frustrating. I adjusted both bands and flushed the fluid at the same time. My transmission never had this issue before the install.

Perfect upgrade for the 48RE transmission
The upgraded governor pressure sensor is simple to install and paired with the BD diesel upgraded pressure transducer for a trouble free transmission. I wish I had done this upgrade sooner.

Bought this and paired with BD diesels transducer, if you’re having any shift issues buy the pair and do it once , ATF +4 isn’t cheap!

48re on my 2007 5.9 cummins was not down shifting to first gear when arriving to a stop, code P1756 came up (bad psi reading 15-20psi) this product fixed my tranny shifting problem. Highly recommend that Ats product! Also installed a transducer from bd diesel. A must for your 48re trans

I was hoping that this upgrade would eliminate the 1-2 shutter shift under light load but it didn't. The transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears but there wasn't a significant change from the upgraded solenoid I had already installed years ago.
