Thule859XT Canyon XT Basket, Black, One Size

This rack is great. I debated whether to purchase this or go with the aluminum Thule Trail XT Basket, Medium. I'm glad I chose this particular model because it is stronger, can carry more and it is easier to strap (the kind of things i carry, anyway) stuff to it; looks fantastic too. You even can mount light bars, shovels and other things to it with a little creativity (see my review on the Yakima Snap Round/Square - Set of 4 be aware that this is the newer model, as there is another NOT named XT which is similar but of slightly different shape, so the extension of this one does not fit the other model and vice-versa. I agree with other reviewers in that instructions for assemble are somewhat tricky. I researched other websites in order to be well aware on how to put it together beforehand and even then I was a bit puzzled at times. I recommend purchasing the locks (Thule 544 Lock Cylinders for Car Racks (4-Pack),4 Pack) but of course this is only a deterrent, as any determined thief aided with darkness, time and tools on his hands will find a way to defeat or break any lock and take off with your expensive rack; however with the locks on they will probably not attempt it as it will take time to take the rack off the car and it is not exactly light anyway.

Thule has great products. You get what you pay for. Well built and designed.

Very sturdy and super easy to assemble and install. It doesn't include keyed locks so don't forget to order those. Installed and locked down, this basket isn't going anywhere. A bit expensive considering some baskets that are a little more basic geometry, but dimensionally similar, are less than half of the cost of this unit. On my 2017 VW Alltrack I have experienced almost no degradations in fuel economy, less than 0.5mpg loss at worst and no loss at best. Super happy my MPG's didn't tank wearing this as a car hat.

I installed this on my 2014 Subaru Crosstrek over the weekend. Took me and my girlfriend about 4 hours to get this thing put together and on the roof of my car safely. It wasn't very difficult but we did get caught up a few times trying to understand some of the instructions. On top of that neither one of us had ever built and secured a roof rack to a car before so we moved carefully to make sure we were doing things right and this thing didn't go flying off my roof since ei had to drive over 200 miles the next day.It looks great and feels sturdy. it does change the driving characteristics a little bit. I felt a little less sturdy at highway speeds. The most noticeable thing was the increase in wind noise coming into the cabin. it was jarring at first but after about an hour I tuned it out. Highway mileage dropped by about 2MPG's.Im happy overall

Assembly and mounting instructions were easy to follow. Took it on a trip from southern Nevada to northern California carrying a portable washer and dryer along with 1 piece of luggage. It's sturdy and not as noisy as I thought it would be as long you keep the interior sun roof door closed. Our 2019 NX doesn't have the greatest room when it comes to carrying cargo. This helped a ton.Biggest issue I had was twisting the wing knobs onto a couple of the U-bolts. Some turned with not too much resistance (a good thing). But some of the others just wouldn't twist into the thread of the u-bolts without applying way more force than I expected. And that's even after applying anti-seize lubricant on the threads. I had to use pliers to twist them.

Pricey but worth it! Very sturdy and great accessory if you need the extra cargo space. I also purchased the 20” extension show in the photos. Install took about an hour to complete but I am a perfectionist and took measurements to perfectly center the basket on my crossbars. Highly recommended!

This basket fits perfect for the fixed bars on my 2022 Blazer. I was concerned the basket would hit the towers for the cross bars. However you will see in the pics this basket actually sits higher off the crossbars. The basket is well built and very sturdy. Overall I'm very satisfied.

My husband was able to decipher the instructions. I couldn't really understand them. It was mainly photos and arrows. No bags were labeled. The instructions didn't say what was in what bag. The were clear bags, so you could see what was inside, but without him I would have been lost. After the rack was mounted in place there are these four cover pieces that go over the screws and rubber/bendy plastic pieces. They use plastic screws that we had to force in and turn while using force. I broke the last one trying to turn it. It broke into several tiny piece. I had to run to lowes and come up with a new plan which was a wing nut and a long bolt to keep the cover on. I get worse gas mileage with the rack onto of my car. I still love it. Really gives me a lot of extra space. I can throw stuff up there and strap it down. It's great.
