I needed a remote for a Sonos Beam 2 soundbar. Having tried a rival product that worked out of the box but was unreliable, I bought this. It requires set-up. The instructions say that it must be programmed using an existing remote, but I was able to set it up very easily using the Sonos app instead. I only needed the volume and mute buttons to work; I ignored the others. So far it works well. Unlike its rival, the buttons are silent and work every time. Visually it is inoffensive. Being long and narrow it is easily distinguished from the various other remotes I have.I’ll update this review if anything goes wrong, but so far I’m happy. It is also cheaper than the other, rubbishy, remote I bought.

Actually used this to learn a failing caravan/motorhome roof vent that's IR remote controlled. The replacement remote from the supplier is £75(!) so bought this to try instead. I now use volume up to open the skylight roof vent, and volume down to close. Works perfectly!I'm extremely happy with this universal remote - and it's actually far more powerful in its transmission than the original, meaning I don't have to point the remote directly at the roof vent any more.If you have anything thats IR controlled, and want a big button remote that's easy to program and use, this is the one for you :)

Good but programming is more difficult than it should be

Bought this because the remote for my Pioneer amp (20 years+) was struggling and there was no replacement available. I only needed it to turn ON, Mute, and operate VOL+ / VOL-, not the whole range of functions. This was cheap and simple. It acquired the codes, button by button, from the other remote very efficiently. It works perfectly. Excellent if you want some basic functions AND HAVE THE ORIGINAL REMOTE STILL WORKING. It learns from the thing it is replacing so if that is broken you need something more sophisticated that comes with stored codes.

Easy to use and program if you have the original remote device.

We used this to control some outdoor Christmas lights that came with a tiny short range remote that basically wouldn't reach the lights receiver at the top of a 20ft tree.By copying the original remote signals onto this more powerful remote we could turn our Christmas star on and off from 6m away. Just what we needed.

Arrived broken. Not checked for functionality but the battery casing doesn’t stay on. Disappointed. Time consuming to rectify.

Overpriced but OK.
