Dog hair, don't care. Easy brushing, easy cleanup!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Where had this been all my life? I have had slicker brushes before, and honestly kind of hated to use them due to having to clean out the brush. This one stores easily with the brush away, and the brush will come out with the push of a button. To clean it off, push the button again and the hair just slides off. Amazing! I don't usually love brushing the dogs, but I've done it more because it's been so easy. With it being shedding season, this brush is saving my floors!

My cats give this a definite 2 paws up!
With four cats, shedding and hair is an everyday struggle for us, LOL. We can start vacuuming the house and by the time we completely finish, the rug in the room we started in already has MORE cat hair on it! We just have to laugh about it because being hair free just isn't possible in this house. Brushing is absolutely necessary to prevent cat hair tumbleweeds from blowing around the floors. It also really cuts down on the hairball "surprises" we find scattered throughout the house! YUCK!This brush is MUCH larger than I had expected. It would be great for medium to large sized animals. (might be overwhelming for a tiny pet) It was perfect for our cats! We have several different brushes and combs but none like this. Those wire slicker brushes get the job done but removing the hair from the brush is tedious and time consuming. (I never seem to be able to get it all out of there anyway!) Combs don't really do much for our short haired kitties. The Furminator works great but at times, I think it removes a little too much hair. (still a great product, though)I LOVE the self cleaning feature on this brush. It makes the whole thing worth it to me! Cleaning off the cat hair is a cinch. You just push the button, brush, then push the button again and the bristles pop back inside. The hair falls off easily without any extra work from me. My cats all love being brushed and this was no exception. They were VERY pleased with it! :)

great retractable bristle feature
This Self Cleaning Slicker Brush by Petio Basics is a good brush. It collects a lot of hair and has a great button feature that makes the bristles retract back inside leaving the fur on the outside to just grab and throw away. I like that feature; it makes it easier to clean the brush that way, rather then to have to dig out the hair from the brush bristles. This brush is great for by shorthaired dog and it is soft bristles for his sensitive skin. It would also be great for a cat!I don’t however think this is a one and only brush you would need for a longhaired dog like my other dog (husky/golden retriever). It is great to get the loose dead undercoat but I need a long bristled strong (metal) brush to get deep into his fur to get out knots and the hair deep down. This brush by Petio Basics is good for the top layer of fur but does not get deep enough for my dog’s type of fur nor does it help get the tough knots out that he tends to get.Overall, I would recommend this brush for shorthaired dogs and cats. I received this product for free to test in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Wish I'd Kept The Packaging
Maybe someone with a larger dog would have a better opinion of this brush. The barbs on this brush are okay and the mechanism works well for removing hair from the brush (hence the 3-star rating, I.e., it does what it says it will do). However, the noise and feel of this brush scared my puppy. She squirmed and ran away when she would see the brush and actually yelped when I used it. I felt like a horrible human for using this. I ended up purchasing a different fur removal brush and she will actually roll over while I'm using it (so she doesn't have an aversion to grooming, just this particular slicker brush).I wish I hadn't been so excited about this brush and that I had kept the packaging. I'd like to return it.If you're going back and forth because of price, go with the other brush you're thinking of.

Cat tested Human Approved
We needed a new brush for our 2 cats that our obsessed with getting brushed. We honestly had no idea there were so many different types of pet brushes out there...then again, none of our babies have ever been so addicted to getting brushed before. So after researching my mom found this brush. Now this was supposed to be a Christmas present for our babies, but I think it's more of a gift to her and I. Not only do our cats love it so much that at the simple question of , "Dior, do you want to get brushed?," did my 8 year old calico leap into my arms in an uncharacteristic move, but WE love the simplicity if releasing all that pet hair with the push of a button! Having an easy release button for fur is helpful when you have allergies as it's nice and compact and you don't have to reach into the brush and poke your fingers on the bristles. I also feel as though this brush is able to really get into the undercoat beautifully. We're absolutely spoiled with this brush and I wish it came in a triangular shape such as the Pixikko Triangle Soft Slicker Brush - for Dogs & Cats Daily Grooming which my cats also love.

Kind of cool
I bought this for my poodle, who had grown quite a bit of hair and it was getting extremely matted. The thing I really love about this brush is that it has a button on the back that pushes the bristles out and then back in to be safely stored. Another great thing about the button is it allows all the hair that was on the bristles to come off vary easily. The one thing I did like was that it boasts the gentle removal of matting. Although my dog didn't cry he looked extremely uncomfortable while I was brushing him with this. The bristles are very sharp and I fear painful for a dog with shorter hair.
