Miles Kimball Adjustable Footstool

The overall design make this one of the best out there. Unfortunately the construction and materials betray to failure.Mine arrived broken and was returned. The top platform is made of luane board, approx 1/8" plywood. Which is meant for cabinet siding (non structural, cover panel only). As such it would take very little to break the platform in half - which is exactly how it was received. I do not think that even the weight of adult legs placed gently upon it would last long before breaking the top in two.It is quite unfortunate as it is by far the best adjustable footstool design out there - but also the most poorly built too.

This footstool is not large enough to comfortably support two legs in the position shown. The materials are similar to cardboard and soft pine. The bottom base is made reasonably well and the metal stands are fine; however, the soft pine hooks made for the metal to adjust the footstool are not deep nor strong enough. I bought this product in June and before the end of the week, one of the "hooks" had come off the top base and were splintered. I had some wood glue, so I reattached the hook to the top base (anything else would have torn up the flimsy base). The metal hinges came out every time the footstool was moved and had to be reset. I solved this problem with duct tape. When I took off the false lambskin cover, all I could see was a very flimsy pressed cardboard-like top base. I give this item a decidedly THUMBS DOWN. However, for those of you who like to take a pattern and make a better product, I believe this footstool could be made much better in your workshop using better wood products and deeper hinge hooks.

I got this to use with a couch that I needed I leg rest for. I was not impressed right from the get go. It seemed not very well made. Easy to put together but the pad for your legs is on the thin side and I can see after some use it getting thinner.

I bought this product to help elevate my legs... The reason for my rating is that the rest wouldn't stay together ( coming apart every time I moved it... I expected that the adjustment rods would "lock" into the selected position until I put it away )...I also found the covering thinner than expected and the wood platform pressed into my legs as time went on and made me uncomfortable...I would up buying a "bean bag" ottoman that suited me much better...That being said... For someone else, it would be a good choice... But, not for me...

I bought this for my 83 year old mom but she would barely move it and it would collapse. Not sure if she threw it out or stuck it in the garage.
