Arrived in one piece but not at all happy
About killed my iguana after two days, finally figured out it was the bulb. He started hiding from the light after the first day, came home today to find him in the corner of his cage with his eyes unable to open. He's in rough shape I put his old bulb back in and seems to be making a slow recovery. I treat my animals with the best care i feel horrible for subjecting him to this.

Bought this for me - Vitamin D baby! - update
Buying something like this in the mail seems to be hit or miss. It's obviously fragile, looking at the internal elements. Mine works and has since I got it. I've handled mine a bit rougher than the manufacturer advises and it still works. I test it with my "transitions" sunglasses and it does put out UV. It's getting a bit temperamental so I don't expect it to last a whole lot longer but so far so good. Hopefully someone soon will come out with a more robust way to make UVA and UVB. What we really need is a lamp with the same spectrum as noon day sun. Vitamin D is only one of many molecules made in your skin when you're outside. Funny we know lizards need UV, but we lock humans up in office buildings with nasty fluorescent lighting and then wonder why they get sick and depressed. It's been a year now. I only use this in the evening for 20 minutes or so and only in the winter. The bulb does take a few minutes to warm up. So far so good.

A very satisfied bearded dragon.
12/2018:As a follow-up to our original purchase in February. Our bearded dragon has been looking a bit listless lately. Believing that the Mercury vapor light we've been using for 10 months was no longer effective, we decided to replace it as the BD's Christmas present. As with the first bulb, almost immediately he climbed underneath the lamp and his eyes widened. From now on we will replace the bulb every 6 months.2/2018:If bearded dragons are able to love, our dragon has two loves. One is my wife for hand feeding him blueberries. The second is this mercury vapor bulb. He loves to climb up and rest all day under the bulb. He appears to be much more alert and active now. After reading other reviews and the instructions that were included with the bulb, I was careful to avoid touching the bulb with bare hands or, being rough in handling. As a precaution, I'm using an inexpensive surge protector. So far, no problems.

Excellent company and pleased with the product so far
I have been using 100w powersun bulbs over my 300g turtle pond for approx 4 yrs now, replacing them every 6-9 mon, but decided to try the 100w Evergreen bulb this time around. The Evergreen bulb was $20 less, is physically bigger, and has a nearly clear lens vs the opaque lens on the powersun. The first bulb had a minor malfunction, but the company followed up immediately and replaced it within 2 days. This bulb has a more greenish hue in the spot beam directly over the basking area where the powersun was white, but I feel that could change as it breaks in. The previous bulb kept the basking site at 90 degrees from 12" away. This bulb is longer and at 10" away, it keeps the area at 90 as well. I did notice that the turtles were eager to get under it immediately and seem to like the light. Time will tell how it holds up or if the color will even out as it tends to with MV bulbs ovet time, but I am happy to have a more economical alternative for lighting and pleased to have such a customer-oriented company to deal with.

Not a suitable light bulb for my baby bearded dragon
First of all, the bulb came in with nice packaging and I was very excited to try it out on my baby bearded dragon. I installed the bulb in a Fluker's Sun Dome right above a basking branch. The bulb itself is very bright and produces decent amount of heat, which my dragon enjoyed. However, after a few days of use, I noticed my dragon always kept its eyes closed during bask (see photo 1), and would only open when I took it out to bath. This persisted for about 10 days. After some research on forums I realized this is not a normal behavior and someone suggested it could be due to a problem with the UV output of the bulb. I switched out this bulb with a regular 100w basking bulb plus an additional ReptiSun 10 for UV and now my dragon is active and alert with eyes open when basking (see photo 2).

Harmful to tortoise eyes
Bulb worked great for about 3 weeks then stopped working. When I removed the bulb from the fixture, I noticed this rather large chunk missing from the ceramic on the tip where you screw it into the fixture. Contacted selling regarding a replacement or refund. Waiting for response.Update-Seller respond to my message in a timely manner and I have already received the replacement bulb. The chunk that I mentioned is apparently supposed to be there, I just didn't initially notice it, as it is in the new bulb as well. Seems to be working fine for now.Another update-unfortunately this bulb greatly hurt my baby hermanns tortoise's eyes and she became quite ill. I stopped using as soon as I figured out that it was the bulb that was making her sick. Within 2 day of discontinued use, she was completely back to her normal healthy self. I contacted amazon and they gave me a full refund and told me to not bother returning the bulb. It may be perfectly fine for some reptiles, but there is no way I would ever use this again.

Beware of defective units.
Seems like I received a defective unit. It seems to leak UV to the point where it was actually causing harm to my pet dragon, he was keeping his eyes closed and was shielding himself from the light even though total heat output was at about 90-95F.

Be careful. Keep an eye on your reptile if you try this bulb.
I have a turtle that I've kept for more than 10 years with no problem. I decided to save a little money and try this bulb, comparing it to the $60+ bulbs that I see at our local pet stores. My turtle became very sick within a several weeks with symptoms that make me think it was the light source. I had to dry dock him for a while. He's mostly recovered now, and I'm using a more expensive UVA / UVB bulb purchased from a pet store specific for reptiles. He's basking much more frequently after swapping to the pet store bulb, and has become more active again. I can't say with 100% certainty that it was the bulb, but I my pet's health problems started after using the bulb, and seem to have ended after I switched to a different bulb.
