About the Artist Comprised of Annie Herring Nelly Greisen and Matthew Ward the sibling vocal trio known as 2nd Chapter of Acts was one of the Jesus movements greatest treasures - the very rare example of a group with a completely unique sound and the native talent to outshine all secular competitors. Best know for their charismatic Easter Song its message of "Hear the bells ringing, their singing that we can be born again!" became an anthem of Jesus music. Annie was the primary songwriter but Nelly and Matthew made additional writing contributions. Characterized by amazing vocals, angelic harmonies, complex and interesting songwriting and passionate lyrical messages, the group left their mark on audiences all over the world in their 20 years of concert touring.

Hymns like you have never heard done before
This group has such a unique sound and no one could confuse them for another group back in the 70s and 80s when they were at their peak. These two sisters and brother have a strong harmony that comes from being family and their dedication to their gift. One of the sisters, Annie, writes most of their songs on their other albums and also the arrangements. These classic hymns are refreshing to listen to in the style only 2nd Chapter Of Acts can give it. Relax to songs you grew up to as a child going to church, songs that give you strength and power.

Amazing vocals and harmonies of favorite traditional hymns. Cheap synth accompaniment. Best Hymns CD ever heard.
These are the best versions I've ever heard of hymns I've known all my life. The harmonies are unusual and the voices are flawless and effortless, and blend astoundingly well, since the artists are siblings. I wish the cheap synthesizer was replaced by actual instruments because with the majestic songs and vocals, it just sounds like an afterthought and is almost distracting. Really? You couldn't use a guitar or piano? But otherwise, it's the best hymns CD I've ever heard.

Hymns 2 A classic
I had a copy of this classic for years and one of my favorite cd's. It is not too loud or brassy. Just classy! I also have the instrumental version, when just "background" is desired. I like "2nd Chapter" because I do not consider them "old folk bland", but a rich full instrumental sound to accompany their rich voices which blend so well. It is just a rich worship experience for me. I also love the Annie Herring CD's that are part of this group.

This is an album I had years ago and of course, lost somewhere along the way. I was excited to find it again and be able to enjoy the wonderful harmony they offer to these classic hymns, while adding their own style.
