Because it's oil-free, it's not super moisturizing, but it is hydrating (It has several good humectant ingredients for increasing hydration, like aloe, hyaluronic acid, and panthenol.) It is a bit thick and takes some time to spread over skin -- this is due to the non-nano zinc oxide, which is my sunscreen ingredient of choice for my sensitive rosacea-prone skin. It will leave a white cast, as all non-nano zinc oxide creams do. Because my skin is fair, it's not noticeable, but it may stand out on deeper skin tones FYI. If you have really dry skin, you may want to layer a moisturizer or serum underneath. This is the only day cream I need in the summer on my combination skin, but in the winter I use this as a top sunscreen layer over another moisturizer.
