Fundamentals of Biostatistics

As far as biostatistics textbooks go, I mostly liked this one. The organization and the examples were good. There is a companion website with more examples and summaries of the chapters, from what I recall. I used this textbook for intro and intermediate biostats classes for my degree in public health.

Oh Rosner, you complicated book, making us mere humans look stupid. If you are a beginner to stats try a different book.

It was my textbook, and some parts are a little hard to understand..

It was really helpful for my introductory biostatistics and i am sure that it will be of help to those taking intermediate biostatistics.

The school of public health just started using this book, switching from one a faculty member had written. One would assume that this new book would be clearer than the older one; not so. This book adds nothing to my understanding of biostats (which is dismally low) but adds to my frustration. I open the book and it literally is like reading a foreign language. Not to add that $150 is a lot to spend on a book that irritates me to no end. I understand that they may use this book in some of the great pubH programs, but that doesn't mean it is written well for those of us who are not statisticians.

Very satisfied with the length of delivery for the Fundamentals of Biostatistics book. The package was also done very nicely and didn't seem worn like other packages I have received from sellers.

I have the E-book and have not been able to utilize it without multiple challenges. Locating chapters, end of page is frustrating, information too advanced for Masters level and poor legibility. I have had to utilize both the Universitys' library as well as Google to interpret the language. I am also not fond of the topic, but it is required. The instructor provided alternate assignments due to the difficulty for our Masters class.

It is perfect quality, almost new!

The explanations were concise, down to the point and the actual mathematic problems available in this text book helped me to understand what the equations actually mean. I preferred this format better than wordy explanations in other textbooks (often too long and disorganized to the point where you get lost in the middle of the text). A lot of people complain that examples are interconnected, and that you have to flip pages back and forth etc. but if you sit down and patiently follow them (actually study them!!), you will realize that with one comprehensive example, you are grasping the big picture Professor Rosner's trying to deliver through the chapter. This textbook really helped me to understand beyond my lecture notes and I will probably keep it for long time.

I didn't find this book very user friendly. It was hard to navigate through and hard to understand especially since it was my first bio statistics class. I can honestly say I probably used it once or twice over the semester and preferred using other resources over this book.
