Now, if your a knife snob please disregard this review... this knife is not for you. Also, it's Chinese so no need to read further if you object to that. But if you're someone wanting a good functional knife to abuse for a few years and then purchase another... listen up! The first thing that impressed me was the comfort of this knife. It is contoured perfectly and the checkered rubber scale coating makes it very grippy. The liners are thin giving it enough strength without too much weight... only 3.2oz. It has the typical nylon washers but they are smooth and hold the blade tight. No play at all and it is perfectly centered and tightly retained when closed. The flowing open pillar design is simple and makes this knife easy to clean. There is thumb jimping on the scales which is okay but not the best... I added some grip tape on the blade spine which really gets a grip! There is a generous lanyard hole and the pivot pin has torx fasteners on both sides for adjustment. The deep carry clip is solid but not too tight. I like that. The blade comes out with use of thumb studs and can be flicked open easily if that's your preference. Thumb stud is easy to get at for lefties also! The lock up is very good. The liner lock is a bit on the thin side but locks solid and operates smoothly... easy one handed operation. The Chinese stainless blade has a traditional shape and came acceptably sharp but please sharpen to your liking... it's easy. It's a hollow grind with relief edge. The entire knife is black except for the edge and lettering on the blade. Very good looking. All this is good but the best part is the street value of 10 bucks! I don't see how anyone could complain about this knife for the price. It's a no brainer... just buy one, use the heck out of it and buy another when it's destroyed. Or, buy 2 or 3 right off the bat. Like switchblade? It has the two notches on the blade to flick it open, but it does not have a switch blade device to open it. Purely manual **Q: Does knife come in box/case?** A: The knife comes in a small box, this has the smith and Wesson logo and the model number of the knife on it. I'd keep this for future reference when you're asked where you got that knive and what kind is it.Hope this answers your question. **Q: How will it perform in a saltwater fishing environment** A: Since the blade is high carbon stainless steel, it should do fine. However, for easier one-handed opening, I'd prefer one of the many knives here that has a "kick" on it so the blade can be flicked out by pressing on it with a thumb or finger. (A "kick" is that little tab-shaped thing on the back side of the head of the blade you can see when the knife is closed. The quality and functioning of this is incredible given a price of $12.99! Easy to open, locks securely with no blade play or wobble, came very sharp, and the liner lock is very easy to operate. The deep belt clip holds the knife securely in the pants pocket, without being so tight that you fear damaging your pocket.
