Do the covers stay open on their own if you want to fill the pods and not use the push-through hole? It seems easier if you take many meds.

Having been my Mother's caretaker (Alzheimer's and other things), it's been my experience that anything that helps you keep the meds straight is a plus.  With these, you just lay a pill on top on each day and you can clearly see that you haven't skipped one.  Then push it in and do the next type pill, etc.Then once they're in, the containers are so clear and large you can clearly see what's inside.  We didn't have this for my Mom back then, and I spent soooo much time counting and recounting and digging thru the compartments of the weekly plastic ones she had, trying to make sure they were all there, etc.  This would have made that very important but monotonous chore a LOT easier and *safer*.I strongly recommend using the lid for its purpose.

Approx how many average sized prescription pills can each compartment hold ?

Thank you for your question! Each half (AM or PM) of the daily containers measures approximately 1.5"L x 1.5"W x 1.5"H. In each half, you can fit approximately ten large 1,000mg fish oil pills. You can fit MANY more prescription pills in each container as they are most often much smaller - atleast a couple dozen pills depending on the specific size. We designed the containers to be large enough to accommodate users who take prescription pills as well as larger vitamins and supplements like fish oil and Vitamin D. We think you will find the containers are likely more than ample to cover your needs. We hope that helps!

I take supplements three times a day morning noon and night...i wish this would accommodate my needs as it looks like a great option except for that..

That is correct, I think three sections would be great. I fill an inexpensive drugstore a.m./p.m. for my prescriptions, maybe you want to do something with a lunchtime container. I could see that would work for the office or school. There are Rubbermaid 4 oz. containers, or small ziplock bags that are called disposable pill pouches and measure 3 x 3.

Question 4

Is this case childproof, or at least are the covers harder to open? I'm looking for a case to keep on my nightstand that my 3 year old can't get into.

A 3 year old would definitely be able to get into this either by using little fingers in the top or flipping the rubber cover open.
