The material has been pretty heat resistant and has done it's job fine. I got this mat specifically for the wall plug grounding ability, that's a pretty decent addition. It did smell a bit funky out of the box but that's dissipated after a week. Also, stuff REALLY likes to stick to it, like dust and solder and whatnot, but I supposed most silicone mats are going to be like this. Just get a can of air and some rubbing alcohol to clean it every once in a while, but DO NOT use paper towels, as it will flake off and get absolutely stuck to the mat. I made a slight modification and bought a $3 whiteboard at the dollar store and cut it into pieces small enough to fit into the squares so that I can label where the screws came from, I got the idea as the iFixit mat works almost like a whiteboard, so I wanted to add that onto this one for the little compartments. It's been invaluable in helping me remember what came from where. Not much else to say, maybe that the wall outlet cable and the wrist strap are coiled, I absolutely despise coiled cables like that, but maybe some will appreciate that? The thing about static electricity is that it's hard to predict, so it's hard to tell whether I'm just lucky or if the mat works as intended. That said, I'm going to assume that the mat is working as intended because I had no discharges while using it. The mat is kind of small, but I appreciate that it comes with the grounding wrist band and everything. The section at the top has plenty of spaces for temporarily storing screws and small pieces.
