Great book about good sportsmanship - perfect for ages 6-10

I really enjoyed Bryan Smith's What Were You Thinking? and My Day Is Ruined, so I decided I should actually buy a couple of his other books from Amazon. We got If Winning Isn't Everything, Why Do I Hate To Lose? last week, and Christopher was very excited to read it. He also loves these books. This book is about good sportsmanship, which is something Christopher struggles with. It's very wordy, so it's meant for older kids: ages 6-10, but the message is great. Once again there's simple 3 step process to check your behavior.[...]

My little guys could relate to the main character and her devious ways!

It was very enlightening to my 5 and 7 year old grandsons to see what a poor sport looks like, and realize that no one wants to play with someone who can't handle losing. It has given them something to think about, and the older boy is noticeably better at being a graceful loser. The younger brother is right behind him. Good book.

Bryan Smith gives good steps to practice to improve attitude and behavior

Compared to Julia Cook, Bryan Smith gives good steps to practice to improve attitude and behavior. Julia Cook really identifies with all the emotions kids feel but doesn't necessarily give good steps to follow for improving the behavior.

Great resource for teachers!

I am building a series of books about social skills to turn to when we have problems in our restorative circles! This is perfect for poor sportsmanship!

Wasn’t what I was looking for

This is an alright book especially for a girl. It does not teach you anything about behaviour on this. It wasn’t at all what I was looking for when a child wants to win and is very competitive with bad behaviour. This was just about a bratty kid.
