Confusing:)** A: This is specially formulated for hot tubs. Chlorine should not be used in hot tubs both for the equipment and the users. Having had a swimming pool where I used chlorine and a hot tub where I use this product I'd say the results of purifying the water is 100 times better using this than chlorine. The product lasts a really long time. **Q: Does this contain chlorine.?** A: There is definitely chlorine in this product though it is not listed as an active ingredient. As a guide as to how much it contains, 3 tablespoons of this product will take a 400 gallon spa with almost 0 chlorine level up close to desirable level. **Q: Do you need to use chlorine in your hot tub as well if you're using this?** A: I shock it with chlorine after I change the water. Also I am using a Silver Ion Sanitizwe filter within the filtering system. Then after each use I add non chlorine shock according to the directions for the amount of water in the tub. Keep in mind if your water is hard you will need to add calcium to make it soft or it will turn your water green.
