Fantastic kit
Beautiful model, my 8 year old is a fan of cobi tanks but this is our first aircraft and we want more! The finished model has a real likeness to the actual aircraft and can be mistaken for a plastic kit rather than brick built model. It’s a good size too. The quality of the kit is par with Lego and the details like adjustable wing sweep and moving wing surfaces make it fun too. Trouble is I don’t want him to play with it! Only some minor niggles are that the stand is a bit wobbly with the weight of the model, the nose cone comes off a bit too easily, and I wish the wing sweep mechanism connected them both together rather than individually. My son wanted the nose gear to be retractable. All in all a really nice model which impressed us greatly.

Talk to me Goose
Amazing set, the swing wing is awesome, everything is great with it. The only pet peeves I have with it are: The cockpit flying open when upside down (something about gravity idk), and the engine intakes being quite fragile and a pain to rebuild if a bit does break off (thinking about it you can remove the whole sub assembly so not too bad). Other than that it's an amazing set and those are tiny issues. The set is massive and uses some surprising techniques.

Just as good (or even better) than Lego
Bought as a birthday gift for a friend who is a huge fan of the F14 Tomcat and of Lego so they were very happy with this. Quality, fit and finish of the bricks id just as good as the main brand and the model is quite sizable and sturdy when complete. Cobi is not just another "knock off", their models are fully licenced, well detailed and they produce kits of a subject matter that Lego simply won't tough being mainly military equipment. There are no stickers to mess around with, all parts that require detail are printed and look so much better for it, They are generally cheaper than the main brand so offer better value for money too. Fantastic kits that any military/aircraft enthusiast would enjoy.

I feel the need ... for more COBI!
I'm almost 50 and really liked building this kit (despite a lot of grey bricks) and it looks great on its' stand on the shelf. Also built the Cobi B17 and smaller 2556 Tiger 1 and very much enjoyed all of them. Only 2 issues : 1. the pilot oxygen tubes are quite stiff and kept making the pilot figures leap out of the seats - I glued both pilots to their seats to fix this (so no post-mission celebrations / push-ups for these 2 aviators). 2. I would have preferred Rooster in the rear seat as it's a TG-Maverick tie-in, but this really is a very minor nit-pick indeed. Love COBI (but I really wish 2801 was a bit cheaper!)

Nice finished model. Assembly slightly tedious.
I’m more used to Lego Technic so thought the instructions could be a tiny bit clearer/more intuitive but they do the job. The pieces are a bit smaller and so a bit fiddly. Also, there are a lot of pieces that look VERY similar which other reviews have mentioned, so you do really need to pay attention. The assembly seems to involve building a lot of flat layers over each other, repeatedly. Nothing wrong with that, but again, if you’re used to Technic you might find it a bit dull. Trying to get the figures into the cockpit and close the canopy was the biggest pain of all. Having said all that, the model looks great when finished. From a distance you can’t even tell it’s made of bricks. I think it’s worth the price and the quality is very good. Cobi aren’t a cheap Lego knockoff brand.

Dreadful communication
I ordered this for my Top Gun mad son, for Christmas. It was ordered a month before Christmas, but I didn’t get it until the end of February. Christmas had come and gone, much to my son’s disappointment. It was the only thing he wanted. I kept checking the order page, where it said, “Order being processed”. There was no way of contacting the seller. I finally decided to contact them by posting a question about the product. They never got back to me, but the package, miraculously, was dispatched. It wasn’t an inexpensive gift, And my son had to wait months…dreadful! I gave 5 stars for the airplane, itself. It is high quality bricks, with great detail. The instructions were easy to understand, for my 11 year old son. Excellent gift! Do not buy from this seller, though. If you have a problem, it is impossible to get a hold of them, and they won’t make any effort to contact you, when you do find a way. Nil stars for the seller!

Love this kit
It's really lovely when assembled. It is more challenging than your usual Lego build - they have numbered bags that you open as you work through th einstructions. This does not. It has two large bags, each with about 8 or 9 bags inside, which contain all of a certain type of brick. There is a "open bag 2" in the instructions about half way through, but you will have a LOT of pieces to sift through at any given time. The finished model is amazing though.

Mimo tych mniejszych wad nadal polecam.

Flimsy, playability almost close to zero
-Design. The design is very good and almost as close as to the real fighter jet. The cockpit is much more details than COBI F/18 which I also owned. The only thing I don't like is the top part of the body which connected to the wings. That two large pieces of quarter circle really spoilt the beauty of the whole thing. -Building experience. Extremely poor. I'm not a die-hard Lego fan but I have many sets of Lego including some high-end Technic sets, coming from this, this COBI set is the worst building experience I ever had with bricks. Some instructions don't make any sense, it could have been very straight forward and much easier but COBI guy chose to spice up the experience, make it seems a bit more complicated than it should be. If it stops right there that is fine with me but it is not! Some instructions make it too flimsy to build. The other bad thing is the wings. It is extremely flimsy as well. I could tell even that when I was at step 50-70th. Even while trying to add on another brick, other parts will fall off. And that happened many many times. Cockpit, basically no latch or mechanism to securely close the cockpit. I used masking tape. Yep, you read this correctly. -Playability. Because of the build, playability basically zero. You wouldn't want to lift up and start to play with it. Play it at your own risk. Very likely you are going to pick up all the loose piece and start to rebuild it. Highly not recommended, unless you have no intention to play it, the only thing you want is to display it and you can live with the two ugly quarter circle pieces on its top.

Really good set, but…
I am really impressed with this set, the model looks great overall. But given that it is not from the “big L” there are some annoying issues. The canopy for example is near impossible to close properly with the minifigs inside and doing so will displace one of them. The stand is also quite flimsy. My son was also quick to point out that the missiles are totally of the mark design wise, which is a shame.

My favourite of the Cobi series.
These jets are what they advertise and I love them. Tomcat is a beauty. Please do the F4 phantom.
