I love it, but the dog hates it. It does pull quite a bit in thicker hair. He's a Shih Tzu or Havenese mix, so he has thick, wavy hair. It's mat prone, but the brush gets them out. He doesn't shed like a normal dog because he has actual hair that keeps growing. I love it for being able to keep his hair manageable in between groomings.

This really does get the matting out. My dogs were looking pretty rough because I had been sick and unable to give them baths and good brushings. They had gotten matted pretty quickly. They needed the mats out before I could even bathe them. I would have had to shave all three dogs if I tried to use the normal brushes that I use on them. They just would make it worst. I didn't want to shave them this time so I wanted to try this dematting tool.I used the wider section of this on me yorkies and it did get the matting but it also started to tangle in their hair. You can't move very quickly. You need to take it slowly and work on small sections at a time. You need a patient pet to do this. I used this again on the Goldie. I tried both sides on the Goldie and again the wider side works better. The Goldie is a very patient dog with a very thick coat. He is such a big dog you could never do his entire coat at once. You always have to do his coat in no less than four sittings. It makes it pretty painful when your schedule is full but it does make a huge difference. I didn't have to shave the dogs this time. A long time ago I purchased a set of grooming brushes from my local pet store so that I could groom my dogs (Labrador & American Bulldog/Great Dane mix). The quality was OK, but I was still in search of a better product. I then ran into the Petio Basics Comb and this has been a lifesaver! Both of my dogs shed, but this comb has really taken it to the next level. The grip and handle make it easy to comb through both large dogs without making my hand tired. The best part is how easy it is to comb/de-shed a short haired dog. With previous brushes/combs, I felt like I was going to pull of their coat off or hurt them, but this one has been outstanding and both dogs come running toward me when they see me grab the comb. I try to always comb outside since the hair/fallout is severe with one of my doggies, but ultimately you know your own pet and how much they actually shed. This tool has really helped their coats and the shedding around the house is much less now, almost nonexistent! I have three yorkies with all three having different hair types. One is fine and collects everything and mats easily, one is thick and curly, and one is fine straight and needs no special care or tools. My other two, I am had about given up on! I was so tired of paying $150 a month in grooming bills that I decided to go back to doing it myself. I had done it before with two yorkies, well by Scarlett, I can do it again! I failed, until I found this gem! I could show you pictures of their first comb through using this dematting tool and its almost disgusting how much I got off of them! But what amazed me was not one of the complained! It was going through their hair like butter taking the mats, dirt, mulch and tiny sticks with it! I was totally blown away! I even went back and ordered another one just in case something should happen to this one! If I want to keep my yorkie's hair length long, then the only way I can let it grow is with the Petio Basics Pet Grooming Dematting tool! It's a must have for any pet owner, no matter the breed!

This is one of those items that actually deserves a 5 star review!I have 2 cats, a Maine Coon who is pretty low maintenance, and a Dollface Persian who is anything but. A few months ago, I bought an electric de-matter I saw on TV. Will never know if it works - because neither cat would stand still for it.This one - they not only rub against for more brushing, but, it actually works! I thought my Maine Coon had pretty good fur and needed little grooming...apparently I was wrong! The picture is of the 5th or 6th brush loaded with dead undercoat fur that she would have otherwise eventually coughed up as a hairball! I'm so surprised!But better than that, the Persian loves it, and I was able to brush him and remove a ton of fur from him and even remove a few mats before he tired of it and walked away. I'll probably need another 1-2 sessions with him.Couldn't be happier with this purchase! Price is right, and it it worth every penny.

I ordered the Petio Basics - Pet Grooming Dematting Deshedding Comb primarily to use on my Australian Shepherd and my Pitbull/Saint Bernard Mix. They both have GORGEOUS coloring, but MAN do they shed! With her being a long haired dog and him being a short haired dog, I have been using this thing non stop. The dematting part is a lifesaver. My aussie matts very well and theor hard to get out without hurting her. But this brush does the trick. The handle is comfortable to hold. It is really easy to use for de-shedding. You just brush it through your dogs hair the way the hair grows. Then make sure you have somewhere to put all the hair you are about to pull out. The way that the brush pulls the hair out and collects it on the top of the comb makes it very easy to clean the brush out and keep the hair from falling everywhere It looks like we have another animal when we are done! This is definitely a quality product.
