Silent Runner 12" Wide + Cage Attachment - Silent, Fast, Durable Exercise Wheel - Sugar Gliders, Degus, Rats, Hedgehogs, Prairie Dogs & Small Pets

I don't often review items but this one here I decided deserved a review. I bought it a few weeks ago but after my fur babies figured it out they have not stopped playing in it and running....as I have 2 male chinchilla caged together they are in their cage most of the day since I work 10 hours I let them out to roam free when I am home but I need to be able to keep an eye on them since they chew anything everything and can get into trouble often if not watched. But I must say this is the best money I have spent they both get so much joy and use out of it it makes me so happy to know they can get the extra work out I can't give them everyday. Great product holds up well to their chewing and is still rather soundless as can be its not perfect with noise but that's to be expected. They love it!! Great product!!! I in fact think I will need to buy a second one since they kinda fight over who is gonna run.

We have had this wheel for 2.5 years and it has been great. Our hedgehog loves it and uses it every night. It has been safe, durable and QUIET! Only con is that it is harder to clean than others but worth it since it is so quiet. We do have to clean it every day because she does make a mess in it. I just reordered one because it has started having trouble spinning, but I think it has lasted a long time since it is washed daily. Definitely recommend!

When Ronin (the little guy in the photo) joined our family he had a wheel in his cage that was the largest available at our local pet store. That wheel had a center post and an attached wire stand. Ronin loves to run. He especially loves to run between the hours of 1 and 3 AM. The smaller, center post, wire base wheel was getting increasingly louder as this warrior hedgehog trained in the wee hours of the morning. Also he’s now about twice as big as he was in the photo so we were getting concerned about the possibility of the center post causing a spinal injury. If you don’t want your hedgehog to enjoy his daily cardio sessions so much that he runs for several hours, don’t buy this wheel. It spins so quietly that his less intense brother in the cage next to him cannot be heard when he’s using his. However, it spins so easily that Ronin is able to run so fast and aggressively that it shakes his cage and can be heard across the house sounding like a washing machine on spin cycle. The squeaking of the old, less effective wheel is not missed but we do have to turn the light on at times just to get Ronin to calm down. Very impressed with the ease of set up and cleaning and its ability to withstand the whirlwind that is Ronin.

Got this for my Syrian hamster, since this is one of the only brands that sells wheels big enough for Syrians. It definitely has the stamp of approval from my girl, she's been running way more since I got this for her, I hardly ever see her out of it. It seems to be faster and move easier than her old wheel, too, which took her few days to get used to but now she really flies in it. I can see what people mean about the quality--the plastic is very thin, and while I think it will hold up fine for a hamster, bigger or heavier pets might damage it. In terms of noise, it's not completely silent. It would probably annoy me if I had it in my bedroom. But it's quiet enough for my needs, although the closed front design does mean that food and poop will occasionally get stuck inside and make a racket--however, the closed front has also kept my hamster from falling off the wheel, something that would happen now and then when she had a completely open wheel, so I think this design is actually really great for safety. At least for hamsters, since they tend to be a little clumsy. Overall, I think this is a great wheel (at least for hamsters) that is designed with safety in mind, but it could do with being a little quieter and a little sturdier to accommodate a greater variety of animals.

I have a rather large mischief of rats (adopted a female who turned out to be a Trojan Horse) so my equipment gets a LOT of use. I have both a Wodent Wheel as well as this Silent Runner. I have always had female rats so they could get by with the Wodent Wheel which is an inch smaller and has a hub for the axle. Once my “baby boys” got big, I quickly realized they would not fare well with that size and we bought an additional Silent Runner 12” wide. It truly is nearly silent as long as you keep it tight. In fact, all I hear is the padding of tiny feet running which is strangely soothing, like listening to rain. It is easily disassembled for washing, just pull apart, and can be directly attached to the bars of the cage. I use vegetable oil on a paper towel to lubricate (non-toxic). I have a couple of Olympic runners and they would be lost without their wheel. While both brands of wheel are great, Silent Runner wins for having that open space that otherwise would be taken up with an axle and also the wide width design.

DO NOT BUY THIS WHEEL... i wish i could give this negative stars My hedgehog has gotten scrapes on his paws from the texture on the inside of this wheel combined with the little cracks on the edges that get things like quills, feces etc caught in it making it HARD TO CLEAN and unsafe. on two occasions i've woken up to check on him and found blood in the wheel (i have a camera in his cage and have looked back at the footage to see if there was a different problem) Unless you'd like to subscribe to a monthly $200+ vet visit ontop of the already pricey wheel compared to other great brands i would NOT buy this.- Do your research and learn from my mistake of wasting money on this, all it takes is a few google deep dives. the wheel is silent but i would definitely not recommend this for the sake of ANY pet's health (fyi in case you are uninformed- the larger the wheel the better for hedgehogs 12" is the MINIMUM)

This wheel is AMAZING! It can stand or attach to wire cages. I literally don’t hear the wheel at all, just the pitter patter of my hedgehog’s feet. It’s durable and easy for my hedgehog to use. It is quite large, but it will probably fit in most hedgehog habitats.

Truly silent. The sound of my hamsters paws are louder than the actual wheel. Comes apart very easily for cleaning. Large enough that your hamster won’t develop an unhealthy spine like in tiny wheels. Nut/washer is adjustable for varying the effort it takes to spin the wheel. Has bracket for cage mounting, but I’d recommend using the stand cause the cage bracket holds the wheel a little close to the bars and it can rattle against them. Also, the construction is A+++. Built like a tank. My hamster has trouble even chewing it. 6 months of ownership and daily use and it still looks brand new.

It seems to work well but my rats don't use it.....at least I tried 😂

Es muy sencilla para el precio al que se vende. Unos de los problemas que tuve fue qué, las piezas pequeñas venían sueltas en toda la caja, ni siquiera en una caja o en una bolsa. Pudieron haberse salido por un orificio de la caja sin problemas, el vendedor no tiene cuidado de eso.
