For more than 40 years, the Isley Brothers have preached the sexy, salty gospel of R&B. With stinging rock & roll guitars (supplied by Ernie) and satiny, seductive vocals (courtesy of Ronald), this family from Teaneck, New Jersey, has been responsible for some of the most popular and groundbreaking hits in rhythm & blues. Their songs are not only classic jams, but, as this collection proves, hotter than most current radio fare. The funk is brought on the throbbing "That Lady" and the fiery "Fight the Power." The love is made on lilting ballads "For the Love of You" and the heavily sampled "Footsteps in the Dark"; the party starts on the finger-popping "It's Your Thing." All of it makes this album a must for lovers of soul. --Amy Linden . Review: Great music - I absolutely love this CD. Review: This is simply a great Album! - Here is the long and the short of it. This is a satisfying album. It doesn't have all of the hits but this is not an anthology. All of the songs are long playing, lasting 5-6 minutes with the exception of "Its your Thang". If you complain about this bargain of an album then you are just far too picky and hard to please. Get this album and you will not be sorry.

Every track is terrific.
What's amazing about this compilation is how good every track is. Sound is excellent. The Isley Brothers seem to have a sound all their own, blending soul, rock, and funk. "Who Was that Lady?" is a groove you wish would never stop. You don't often hear such propulsive drumming in this genre.

Isley Brothers Greatest Hits Volume 1
I was watching some mop TV commercial and The Isley Brothers' 1973 hit That Lady Parts I & II was used in the TV spot. The TV spot shows a rake smitten with a broom. In the last 10 seconds, the rake and mop are sharing pasta and wine! The Isley Brothers released Who's That Lady in 1964. In 1973, they updated the song with a Santana/Jimi Hendrix-influence. This same song was also used in a 1990's Salon Selectives TV spot and in the movie Anchorman. This CD is less than $10 and it's packed with some good Isley Brothers songs.

Brotherly Love
How about start with "Who's That Lady?", which was killing it on AM radio in 1973, 3 and 4 years before funk was lighting up the mainstream. Several other classics here, example after example of vocal and instrumental prowess.
