I Work at a Public Library
Book #68 Read in 2014I Work at a Public Library by Gina SheridanThis was a cute, quick read. In this book, librarians tell their stranger-than-fiction stories of what library patrons ask for, request of them or do in the library. Some are laugh out loud stories, some are disturbing and some are heartwarming. Anyone who is a library lover will enjoy this book.http://melissasbookpicks.blogspot.com

CHECK IT OUT!
Perhaps I've spent too much time working at the public library. Perhaps I'm jaded to the irascible nature of the reading public. This is a clever book, amusing in its tales, realistic in its situations. But for each example, I could think of one that I'd seen that was more extreme. A fun read, check it out!

Excellent gift for the new Librarian!
Purchased as a gift for my friend who just received her Master's degree and became a librarian. I read thru it and some parts are pretty humorous. Was a prefect gift for her and she got a kick out of receiving it. Cute little book, easy read and reasonably priced.

Just ok
I thought this was to be a humorous book for librarians but as a library worker, the stories seem pretty normal. There are some nice stories and antidotes but not terribly funny.

An eye opener
Working with people is always an experience. I am glad to read the snippets of her day and know that most librarians love books and their patrons just as much.

Great gift idea
Hilarious and easy to read. Short and sweet, a great gift for people who you just aren't sure what to get them. Especially if they are a book or library lover!

Great Find!
I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my mother-in-law and gave it a read beforehand. It didn’t disappoint. I think the only way you could dislike these stories or be disappointed is if you go into it with expectations or comparisons of your own experiences. Read objectively it’s a great book!

Great
I love books like I Work at a Public Library. They put me in mind of Jen Campbell’s two part book series Weird Things People Say in Bookshops. And since I work in a library – a school library that is – I am well versed in hearing the funny conversations around me and being asked random questions. The quirkiness of this book is very endearing. The chapters are broken down to numbers within the Dewey-Decimal system and the stories are catalogued alphabetically. As you read along – an inevitably snort with laughter – I swear it will make you want to work in a library.Such a great book.I Work at a Public Library by Gina Sheridan is available now.

Not as funny as I anticipated
It was ok but I lost interest as the stories weren't as crazy as I thought they would be. Quick read.

I also work in a public library. It was ...
I also work in a public library. It was very interesting and also very familiar. However, there could have been more anecdotes about customers.
