The Great Adventure Catholic Bible (Paperback)

This is a must-have if you’re doing Fr. Mike’s Bible in a Year program! I have done the program twice. The first time, I did it just by listening. The second time, I bought this Bible and it greatly enhanced the experience by being able to follow along. I now understand the Bible better than ever before! I also purchased the Bible tabs that go with this and they are really nice to have as well.

Bought this bible to use along with my Hallow app and the bible in a year series. I absolutely love how this bible is laid out, it is colored so that you know what time frame goes with what. This bible is great in general, but it is really laid out to use with the bible in a year with Father Mike. It is laid out like a regular bible but color coded so you follow it as the timeline of the bible happened. Not a lot of space to write notes, and if you are wanting a bible and a devotional in one this not the bible for you, as there is not a lot of extras such as devotionals. But lots of maps, and info about the timeline of the bible. I am getting this for my mom so she can use it with the bible timeline. Really love the feel of it also....such a great bible!!

I ordered this on March 10 but didn't receive it until April 15. Not sure why it took so long. I ordered the paperback version and was going to do the Bible in a Year with Father Mike. I was on short term disability from work and thought I would do this before my surgery. Didn't come in time so I started two weeks after my surgery. Fr Mike reads exactly how this Bible is written which is perfect. This is exactly what I wanted. With another Bible, every version is different in how it starts out. With this I will be able to follow along. After Fr Mike reads the set Chapters for that day from the Bible, he explains them. This is an approved Catholic Bible and you can listen to Fr Mike on the Hallow app. I wish I had known about this program before. He started in 2020. Currently he is doing Catechism in a Year. These are recorded so you can go and start at the beginning.

Great bible but keep in mind that the paperback is flexible cardboard, like all paperbacks. It is not the blue flexible leather that is seen in pictures of reviewers, which is the one I expected to get. Ascension must’ve initially published 2 versions (tier 1 hardback and tier 2 flexible leatherette). They must have replaced the tier 2 “flex leatherette” version with a tier 3 paperback. My only gripe about this is that the new paperback looks like a college text book and not a bible. It Doesn’t have the ribbons and does not look Iike the reverent book it should. I returned it due to this. Keep I mind that there is no difference between hardback, flex leatherette, and paperback other than the exterior. So if you want to save money, get paperback. However, If you want a Bible that you plan on keeping for posterity, get the hardback or leatherette. Due to this, I ordered the “flex leatherette” version from the EWTN website and love it. It was hard to find but EWTN has a few of the tier 2 “flex leatherette” editions which were discontinued. The price was about the same as a hardback but it’s lighter, which I like.

This is not just for Catholics but for all Followers of Christ ! I absolutely love this Bible. Obviously it has the Scripture, but what I really appreciate are all the extra explanations and details that help me better understand what I’m reading. Sometimes I need the Bible to explain the Bible to me. 😂 Seriously though, the additional information is extremely helpful for getting a better understanding of the context and how everything fits together. I also really like the graphics, timelines, and other details throughout it. If you want to actually study and understand what you’re reading instead of just reading the words and thinking, “Alright…what exactly did I just read?” 😂 this is a great Bible to have.

I purchased this Bible to read along with Father Mike’s podcast, Bible in a Year. I’ve started BIY twice without finishing and this will be a great help. I just received it and immediately went to work attaching the index tabs, which took a few hours but The Books can be found easily, making those hours well spent. I also like the way it’s written, it will be easier for me to comprehend the teachings. I’m so glad I have this for my journey with God.

The Bible with tabs printed directly on the page--love it and use it with my Ascension courses. I still pull out my NABRE version of the Bible to compare it with this RSV version, but I certainly don't have to. Even though I have a Bible Timeline that came with one of my courses I appreciate that it is also printed, by section, into The Great Adventure Bible; I have a second edition soft cover, and it has, also, held up well to travel.

Thick pages that are great for highlighters and notes- no bleed through. Love the thick covers that don't get dirty also! I have looked at other bibles with more aesthetic covers but have found so many with thin pages and small writing- which are not great for me as I am journeying through the Bible in A Year. I also love that any text that is from Jesus speaking is written in red. I don't see many bibles like this! Maps and timelines are incredibly helpful for studying the Bible. 私が知っている英訳の聖書のなかで，いちばん簡単な単語を使って書いてある。あまりにも簡単すぎて，それが弊害になっているのではないかと危惧するほどだ。これなら，旺文社の『英単語ターゲット1900』を8割憶えていればなんとかなるだろう。 四福音書をひとまとめにして要約があるのも，普段聖書をきちんと読んでいないような罰当たりな信者にとってはありがたい。欲をいえば，例え話(ぶどうの木の話)一覧とか，「義」という単語がどこに何カ所あるかとか資料をつけておいていただけると助かる。医学書のように索引を完備してほしい。重要な単語も抜き書きしておいていただけると読者の便宜をさらに図ってもらえる，素晴らしく精度の高い聖書になる。まったく怠惰な信者の要望だ。 それにしても2021年5月31日発行で，もうないってどういうこと？？？

You can tell how much time and effort Jeff Cavins and other contributors have put forth making this Bible, From the detailed timeline map for each book to the well-crafted summaries and narratives, and the representation of the covenant structure of salvation history. Engaging with this Bible along with Father Mike Schmitz 'Bible in a year' podcast has been such a divine experience!

Best Bible great references and so much historical additions to help understand what was happening at the time.
