Will it work in my carpeted sewing room picking up thread?

Supposedly it should but honestly this particular one is useless. It doesn’t pick up anything from my carpet. I suggest finding one with a Double bristle. This one just has one In The center and it doesn’t seem to pick stuff up

Dry, yes I think it would. It picked up cereal.

does this work well on laminate? Does it pick up little pebbles?

It tends to kick some "little pebbles" forward, but a couple passes will get it done. This particular item is much better on carpet and rugs.

would this work well in a classroom with carpet?

Absolutely I know it would. My 3rd grade teacher had one of our carpeted gathering/reading area back in 1973. I have one that my ex-husband kept and am buying another one now. Can't beat them for great low tech easy cleaning.
