Better than expected
I'm happy with this purchase. The sax arrived intact and undamaged. All of the keys work properly, and I'm able to get a good tone from low to high notes. It’s worth noting that I also purchased a Yamaha 4C mouthpiece and Rico 2.5 reeds to go with it, as I’ve heard that the mouthpiece and reed are often weak points on inexpensive horns. Although I’m new to the saxophone, I’m not new to wind instruments and I was ready for a challenge. I wasn’t expecting much at this price point, but the way it sounds, feels, and looks exceeded my expectations. Even the case is surprisingly nice. For the value that this represents, and not having to spend thousands for a horn to learn on, I give this soprano sax a 5 out of 5. Although how well it holds up over time remains to be seen, this ticket to sax-town was worth the price of admission.

Fantastic price great quality
No problem at all. As a complete beginner I took it to a professional repair shop to look it over. The technician couldn't find any issues with it. Very satisfied

Subpar, frustrating
It looks like a soprano sax. It plays… sort of. First thing I noticed was the incredibly wide spacing between the right hand, ring finger and pinky finger keys, particularly the lower C key. The stretch is way too far especially if a kid is trying to play it. Overall, the craftsmanship is OK, sometimes questionable. There are quite a few sharp edges in sort of random places. The pads are dark brown and seemingly spongy. The particular saxophone I got had some pretty tremendous pads sealing issues, which is a bummer, considering how deeply imprinted the tone holes are into the pads. It’s also a bummer because the tone and intonation are pretty good for the price. At least on the particular one I received. Key tensions are also a bit of an issue. The right hand pinky E flat is almost impossible to press down while the C key right below it barely stays open. There are also some regulation issues across the instrument contributing to its playing difficulty. Probably the most frustrating thing is that the joint where the neck fits into the instrument is lacquered, making it nearly impossible to insert the neck into the instrument properly. To get an honest attempt out of the instrument, I had to sand down a pretty significant amount from one of the necks. As is normally stated with these sort of horns, the mouthpiece and reed are basically unusable. The ligature was also equipped with some pretty radical sharp edges on the inside. The case also presented some significant problems. The space where the body of the instrument is stored, is an oversized general saxophone shape that puts some gnarly pressure on some of the keys and doesn’t hold the body really well at all. Just a nitpicky thing, when you look into the bell of the instrument, you can see the seam where the flat piece of metal was welded together to create the tube that makes the body. When I played it, the left hand notes had a significant stuffiness, particularly second finger C, and the one and one B-flat. This was not the case when I used the right hand side keys for B-flat and C. This again is where it got really frustrating because with the side key, those notes felt and sounded really nice. Overall, pretty disappointed. Would probably be better off going with a different one, or just save your money and check out some thing like a Kessler or a used one.

Iffy purchase
It would seem that with this saxophone that the day of the week it was made will determine quality. Unlike a large number of buyers, the horn I bough did not live up to the hype of satisfied customers. My purchase arrived securely packaged and on time. I opened the box and viewed an impressively looking horn. After removing all of the shipping corks holding the keys secure, I placed my mouthpiece on the horn. (I did not even consider using the mouthpiece which came with the horn ) and blew into the horn and astounded by the results. This horn clearly needed multiple keys adjusted. I am not suggesting that this horn should not be purchased, but rather do so with the understanding that your purchase may we’ll need work to be truly playable.

One of my favorite horns.
Figure that you will have to take it to a repairman for some final adjustment. This can be true with a new Selmer as well, so no big deal there. With over 60 years of playing, I have always liked black nickel on a sax. Throw away the mouthpiece and reeds that come with it because life is too short. I use a Yamaha 5C with a Legere #3 European Cut clarinet reed and it is just great. Aftermarket necks can be had for under $35.00 a pair [straight and curved] and can well be worth a little experimentation. I also have and Eastrock curved soprano in lacquered brass which is lovely as well.
