If you only insert 2 RAMs, we recommend that you choose the orange slot. If you need to insert 4 RAMs, all 4 slots can be used. Tips: If the motherboard does not display after normal installation, but the CPU fan is running normally. Review: Best board for using older CPU - This board worked great after a few doublechecks and making sure I had everything right. First boot didn't come up, shut it down, turned it on and everything was perfect Windows 11 just set itself up! Still need to go through BIOS, but everything seems to be running fine.
Review: Stable as heck, and a great use for recycled ewaste - First off, if you’re buying this, you know what you’re doing with computers. This board is stable, and uses the unconventional server chipset with custom bios. Linus discussed this in a video; it’s an effective way to recycle bad server boards and reduce eWaste. I’m using a cheap quad core Xeon to use as a basic machine at my work for iTunes, backing up hard drives, and other assorted pc/phone tech support things. Have had no issues with this board, nor other Machinist boards I’ve encountered in the past. If you’re looking to recycle some old parts and make a functional machine for home use (gaming would also be good with the right CPU, a 3930k or something) then this will tick all the boxes.

**Q: Is there a bios setting to have it recognize the m.2 hard drive?**
A: Check the pin diagram under the M.2 drive. By default it is setup for NVMe. You need to move the jumbers just behing the connecctor to match SATA if that is the drive you are trying to use. I used a SATA M.2 and it worked just fine. You can then go to the Boot menu  (ESC at boot) in the BIOS and activate the M.2 as a boot device and set priority.

**Q: Does this motherboard support an i7 4820k?**
A: Yes, the CPU socket type of Intel Core i7 4820k is LGA 2011, which is compatible with this X79 motherboard.

**Q: Does this mb support tmp 2.0 or ptt for windows 11?**
A: I don't have specific details to answer your question, but I can confirm that I am running Windows 11 on one of these mobo's. The one where I am typing this reply from. I don't recall if I had to do anything "special" to install it, but it was a clean fresh install onto an SSD, not an upgrade.

Linus discussed this in a video; it’s an effective way to recycle bad server boards and reduce eWaste. I’m using a cheap quad core Xeon to use as a basic machine at my work for iTunes, backing up hard drives, and other assorted pc/phone tech support things. Have had no issues with this board, nor other Machinist boards I’ve encountered in the past. If you’re looking to recycle some old parts and make a functional machine for home use (gaming would also be good with the right CPU, a 3930k or something) then this will tick all the boxes.
