This scanner does work VERY well and is easy to use
This scanner does work VERY well and is easy to use. What you get with it doesn't work with windows 7, but you have 2 choices. Get a used/older laptop with XP to use it with. OR with a little elbow grease you can use it with windows 7. I did. I run windows 7 professional x64 bit and have this very scanner running smoothly on it. You have to do two things, tweak the driver so it works with windows 7 (basically things its looking for are located in different places) AND use a slightly newer version of the software. I'd post links for both here but for some reason amazon doesn't let me post links. If you email me, I am happy to share both with you, just be patient on a reply I am slow to check my email. The only reason I am giving this 4 out of 5 stars is all the work I had to do in figuring out how to make it work with windows 7 (a full day of tinkering)... But it does work now.

Thrifty find - works in Windows 10, but image quality is pretty terrible
I scan tarot cards for my own use, and I was thinking I might be able to get some use out of this scanner I found at a thrift store for a few dollars. It sat in a drawer for a couple of years, because Dymo refused to make the most recent version of their software available for older hardware (they acquired CardScan at some point after this product was on the market). Without the software, this scanner is pretty useless. This scanner does show up as a standard WIA (Windows Image Acquisition) device, so you can use it to import over WIA into Windows Fax & Scan, Photoshop, etc., but the image quality is AWFUL. It seems like the software is doing some post-scan processing to even out the color. This review includes an image of a scan from the app, a scan in Photoshop using WIA, and some color correction applied to the scanned image in Photoshop. As of January 1, 2020, Dymo has discontinued their CardScan line of scanners and software, so you can now download the latest CardScan 8 software from Dymo - just search on the Dymo website for "DY_software-v8.0.5-executive".The software works fine in Windows 10 Enterprise, and I confirmed import of contacts into Outlook 365 works just fine, even though the Dymo website says address import won't work. The software itself is fast, as is the scanning process. There's a ridge on the input side of the scanner to guide a standard-width business card, so this is probably faster than using a smartphone app to take pictures of business cards, because you can feed all the images first and then let the software read the images to create contacts. If you go to a lot of expos and sales conferences where you end up collecting a pile of business cards, some variation of these CardScan products is worth it if you find it cheap, especially now that the software is freely available. Otherwise, a compact photo scanner is a better tool for scanning images than this product.

No software updates!
The actual device works well and is a great time saver. However, after spending around $120 for the device, I got a new computer a couple months later and this is not compatibale with Windows 7. The manufacturer will SELL you the new software needed for $119. Extremely ridiculous that they have the needed technology to make their device work on new computers, but refuse to share it, unless you double your investment.
