Can I dip the temperature sensor in water?

I used mine with the sensor immersed for about a year. This was in a water bath in a crockpot for inexpensive sous vide cooking. I also used it for making yogurt. It failed after about a year and in my reading on the issue, this sort of failure is common if the sensors are immersed for long periods. I recently got a replacement unit and I will be protecting the sensor by using it with a thermowell, which is a close-fitting metal tube that is immersed in the liquid and sealed at one end, but open to the air at the other.

How long is the probe cord?

I believe the picture shows it is 118 inches.

Specs say the most power it handles is 2a inductive, nowhere near enough for a freezer or basically any ac. have many of us used it for that anyway?

I don't know what inductive load is. I use it on an infrared lighting fixture in a greenhouse that pulls about 15 amps without problem. The specs also list it as ok for refrigerators and freezers.
