Taylor 3512 Precision Instant Read 1-Inch Dial Thermometer

This product just works out of the box. It's accurate, and that's all I can ask for. Great product!

Do not return these before you calibrate them. They are not broke. You need to turn the hex head behind the gauge to reflect either ice water or boiling water.

Be sure to calibrate the thermometer before use. Really easy. Mine was 8 degrees too high. Set the thermometer in a full cup of ice and top off with water. After the temp gauge settles and stops moving, use a pair of pliers and grip the nut on the back of the gauge and turn the guage housing to 32 degrees. That's it for calibrating using low temperature. After checking 3 different times over an hour, the guage held accuracy at 32 degrees each time. Great for checking the A/C vent temperature in my cars. For the price, this is worth the money.

I don’t like that it is such small readings. But it is FAST & Accurate! I just wish that you could use it in the oven. Since my first review a few months ago I have decided that this is the perfect little gadget for a quick temp check! Not very big but extremely handy!

How many reasons would you like for why you should not buy this product? Most importantly the temperature is inaccurate. I used a working thermometer, and this one, in hot water and the first measurement was 50° off. When I made the water a bit deeper it was 20° off, the closest it got to being the same as the working thermometer was 10° off. Before I even did the temperature test I knew I wanted to return it because the dial is so tiny it's very difficult to read. When I put in for my return Amazon responded by telling me I didn't even need to return it, which I really appreciated. Then I thought maybe somebody with Better Eyes could read it so I tested it and found the above results. I thought the hole through the case was an interesting feature, but when I went to try that the thermometer did not even fit through the hole! So the only thing left to discuss is the packaging which was terrible! It was extremely difficult to get the thermometer off the cardboard. Taylor thermometers have lost my trust! Considering how often these get mangled by mistake in garbage disposal, a nice cheap, functional food therm is preferable. I've worked decades in kitchens and this works just fine (battery instant read are a waste of money IMO). For those of you new to these thermometers, make sure you calibrate in cup of crushed ice water when new and periodically after. Use covered cup like a foam coffee cup - let it sit for a minute stirring occasionally - while holding dial head, turn hex nut with pliers so dial reads 32 degrees F. My order was correct and on time.

Used for less than a year and ended up buying an instant read thermometer because it stopped working properly. Takes too long for it to read the right temperature. Ruined a lot of dishes for me. Please think about spending the extra $5-$15 to buy an INSTANT read thermometer. You will be thanking me later!

There is a good reason this product is not returnable. The description does not state that is not oven-safe. You simply need to wait for the item to arrive and then you are stuck with it. I would avoid any products from TAYLOR manufacturer.

La funda no sirve para calibrar el termómetro. Publicidad falsa. Se requiere de unas pinzas, llaves inglesas o españolas para calibrar, cosa que no es posible hacer en una cocina. Robo de dinero
