Couture Sewing: Making Designer Trims Paperback – September 20, 2016

I own quite a few sewing books, but this truly exceeded expectations. It does not have information on creating trims (I would recommend "Fine Embellishment Techniques: Classic Details for Today's Clothing" if you are looking to create your own trims). What it does provide is detailed instructions on how to choose and apply trims. The DVD is well made and I really enjoyed watching the author work. It includes over 2 hours of instruction - making the book price suddenly seem like an amazing deal!

I am really enjoying this book and DVD. The reviews from other customers convinced me to purchase this book and I am glad I did. The photos are very good. The DVD is just great. The author demonstrate the techniques very smoothly. Ms Shaeffer collection of Chanel clothing is just outstanding.

Claire Shaeffer is an incredible teacher of couture sewing. She has great illustrations and shows you step by step instructions. In this book, she shows how to make couture-type trims for clothing that are true to couture. I highly recommend this book if you want to learn about trims.

This book contains some excellent examples of how to execute couture trims. It also has a few pages on couture clothes, how to spot fakes, real Chanel; I would like to point out that I think Claire B. regurgitates this "history of Chanel" information too often in many of her publications. So if you already have read her information on this, don't expect to find anything really earth shattering here.On the other hand, nice, easy to understand techniques that are within reach of most sewists. Excellent diagrams, and easy to understand written explanations. Includes a CD, too.

Very detailed instruction and a great dvd is included. I found this book to be very informative. A great read.

Look that. Beautiful cover it isn't? But wait until you get inside. So rich book! Plenty of explications and details to embellish any peace of cloth. Believe me and try it!

This book was exactly what I expected and like other books by Clair Schaeffer it was written with clear instructions and lots of photographs.
