Very handy for working on Compressed Puerh Tea Cakes, of any size, shape, or age.
Many of the other reviews were 5-STAR's, so when this went on sale, I decided to get one. Picked the Brown one, and got it the next day, FREE Delivery, with my Amazon Prime membership. Comes with a nice screw-on Protective Cover (protects it and you too... ), in the matching color, but most importantly, worked just GREAT, to take apart any Compressed Puerh Tea Cake. Just be careful, not to stab yourself, so don't apply too much pressure when working on that really stubborn Compressed Puerh Tea Cake. Start with smaller sections, and take your time. This is much safer, cleaner, and more effective, than a Screwdriver and Pair of Pliers, which is what I tried using first, on a 179 Puerh Compressed Tea Cake, not knowing the correct way, and just wound up with a MESS. But when all I did was create that MESS, after misjudging the Tea Size I needed to Break Off, and almost stabbing myself in the hand, I finally decided to go for this tool, and I'm glad I did. Now, Life is Good... plus, I get to enjoy my Puerh Teas, without having to struggle so much, like before. 5-STARS, and if you do have any Pressed Puerh Tea Cakes, do yourself a favor, and get one of these. You'll be glad you did. :o) UPDATE: August 3, 2024, ordered and received another of these very handy tools, with all the Puerh Compressed Tea Cakes I've got lined up to try. I now keep everything inside several Hard Plastic Boxes wih Locking Lids, to store ALL my "TEA" 'stuff, after a MOUSE attacked one of my Taiwan High Mountain Oolong Teas, but gave up, after CHEW'ing a 1" Diameter HOLE into the Bag, tried a taste, then LEFT, after RUINING my Taiwan HMT. My new Hard Plastic Boxes with Locking Lids also keeps everything CLEAN, including this Stainless Steel Puerh Tea Knife Needle. Still a 5-STAR Rated Product... !!!

TEA KNIFE
Excellent tea knife. Very sturdy and good size. This item is made to separate tea cakes and brake them apart. The knife part is not made for cutting. Once agin it's a tea knife so to the reviews that are negative casue they can't stab or cut stuff well this knife isn't made for that. Clearly people don't do research on products before buying. I think those reviews should be taken down since they didn't use the tea knife as it's intended purpose.

Nice tool, blunt tip, bit of a smell to the cap…but a great buy!!
I’m a fan, but the blunted tip that came with it does more damage than good to high quality teas, so I ground a keen tip and polished it up to 3000 on my stones, now it’s brilliant! There is, however, a mild but noticeable chemical odor to it, presumably due to the adhesives they used to put it together.. a few minutes under vacuum should vaporize the volatiles so they don’t impart any flavor to the tea, but I’d imagine that most people aren’t as crazy about tea as I am… haha.. four stars, could be better, but for ten bucks it’s about as good as to be expected.. for the record, I only put a sharp TIP on it, not an edge; otherwise it would cut the leaves from the cake instead of prying them free without damaging them which is the whole point of a tea knife.. it’s a good buy, but I’d definitely recommend spending ten minutes with a whetstone and cleaning up the tip, and at least letting it breathe for a few days so that the glue vapors can disperse entirely before you use it on any expensive teas.. That and a VERY light touch of olive oil to prevent any corrosion is what I do to keep my tools in tip top shape. ~if you take good care of your tools, your tools will take good care of you..

I don't know why I bought this...
...only slightly less sure why I kept it!It's kinda neat: Imagine a completely useless wooden cylinder. Now imagine you could unscrew it to reveal an only *mostly* useless knife... what you're only imagining right now, baby I'm *living* it!The "knife" feels pointy enough, but it must be said that its edges aren't really even approaching sharp -- this is not hyperbole -- and I'm not entirely sure their shape is one that can be sharpened (?).✔ - pointy stabby✔ - novelty / conversation starter? - satisfactorily opens mail
