Faulty select button so it’s a 0 Stars for my purchase
Thought I’d take a chance as I just wanted a dab plus radio for listening to news channel not appearing in my existing dab radio.Never got last go as the select button is required to set the time before you can even think about scanning. Will not be purchasing this model again 😳

Difficult to use
I bought TWO of these "Basics" radios but I didn't try them until the return period ended. The clue is in the title -- BASICS -Poor display - multi-function buttons - Generally not for use unless you have a magnifiing glass in bright light - Not for use as a BEDSIDE radio - which I listen to through the night.I wasted my money and missed the chance to return them

Poor quality
The settings were very difficult to set. I was not able to dim the clock enough to allow use as a radio alarm. Very disappointed.Returned the item

Useless - Volume/Select function combined - don't work
The volume control and station select are the same button - volume works, but can't select any station other than the first one, beginning with 'A'. Dreadful design

Good radio that could have been great
This could have been an excellent portable DAB radio but there are some things that hold it back.I'd ordered two separate Amazon Basics DAB radios and both had the same issue with the volume/select dial on start up. The issue was that you have to press the dial to select an option on the radio (i.e. confirm an input or select a radio station) but the dial would not press in. I literally had to pull off the dial and reconnect it back on - it just clicks on and off with just a little pressure thankfully but for a while I thought the radio would be rendered redundant because of this issue. Pleased to say the issue has been resolved but not great first impressions, especially as it happened on two different models. But there is a lot to like about the radio - it is very small for starters, making it very portable. It comes with a 3-pin wall plug but can be battery operated as well. I really like that it is both DAB and DAB+ which means I have access to a lot of radio stations (some are DAB+ only such as Talksport 2). The sound quality is also excellent for the size of the radio - it is surprisingly full sounding for such a small radio. You can store up to 20 presets but this is where another problem occurs... the presets don't seem to be stored if I turn the radio off fully (as in not just put on standby) indicating there is no built in memory. Also the time seems to get reset every time I turn the radio off as well - and I mean the power on/off switch on the radio itself not turning off at the wall - meaning on start up I always get the same prompt to set the time. Give it 15-20 seconds and it seems to update automatically and let's me connect to the radio. Interestingly, despite all my presets being forgotten it does seem to remember the last radio statio I was tuned into. The DAB reception is okay but it can have trouble picking up some stations that my larger and older non Amazon DAB radio can pick up no problem. If this radio picks up a DAB/DAB+ station it tends to be stable after that though which is pleasing. The FM receiver seems quite poor in picking stations up, and even local ones can be crackly, but to be honest I would only use this device for digital radio anyway. There is also Bluetooth functionality so it can act as a Bluetooth speaker which works well enough - connectivity is quick and I've not experienced any drop outs when trying it out.The colour screen is kind of basic but helps with navigation of the radio stations, using the dial to move through the stations with the screen being large enough to show the stations in easy to navigate list form - it makes things much quicker and easier than a single line display.Overall the radio is a bit of a mixed bag - some things I really like about it, such as the sound quality and size plus being DAB+, but I can't deny there are things that have held it back from getting a higher rating for me. It's a good radio and I'll certainly get use from it, but it could have been great if not for the aforementioned issues.

📻Awesome DAB+/FM radio, can use it as Bluetooth speaker & has full featured alarm clock.
The media could not be loaded. Portable DAB/FM Radio with Colour Display, Bluetooth. This is a lovely little radio and has a neat finish offering a full colour display, this radio which can be powered by either battery or mains. It boasts both DAB and FM with the option of Bluetooth which would allow you to turn this effectively into a Bluetooth speaker. The alarm function is very good indeed featuring many options that you would find on a dedicated alarm clock. I'm very happy to recommend this radio, I've listed a few positive pointers that have interested me and if you wish to read a bit more, in depth, then carry on reading.✔ Stores 40 presets✔ Full colour display✔ Battery or mains powered✔ Good reception & sound✔ Fully featured alarm clock✔ Good quality build✔ Compact size (16 x 10 x 5cm)✔ Headphone socketThis radio comes with a mains power supply in the box as well as a good detailed manual. It can be powered by 4 x AA alkaline batteries (not supplied) or via the mains, the power lead is around 1.3m long. The quality of the radio is very good, it looks a solid built unit and would be ideal for any room in the house. The base has 2 non-slip rubber feet, the telescopic aerial can reach to about 50cm. All the controls are situated on the top of the radio with only the master on/off switch on the righthand side next to the 3.5mm headphone and power adapter socket.Using this radio is straight forward, once you have switched the on/off slide switch to 'on', you must then hold down the 'mode' button on the top of the radio to turn it on. With the telescopic aerial fully extended, as soon as you turn this on the DAB radio automatically scans for all the available digital radio stations for your area. You can store up to 20 stations as presets, 3 preset buttons are available on the radio, to access the remaining 17 just press the 'next' or 'previous' buttons to move through the preset numbers, a visual display is shown on the radio. The reception is fantastic and it sounds very good for a small radio. The FM stations have to be scanned yourself but these can be stored also, the radio allows 20 FM presets. This radio will pick up stations using the new DAB+ technology, this new version of broadcasting allows broadcasters to transmit in better quality and allows more stations to be transmitted. Older DAB radios will not pick up this new DAB+ broadcast, as such this radio is future proof. A few broadcasters are starting to transmit on the new DAB+, this radio will still be able to pick up stations broadcasting on normal DAB.If you wish to alter the sound settings, this can be done by accessing the 'Equaliser Setting' in the main menu, this allows you to adjust the base and treble to suit. The information on the colour display is very clear and the detail is what you would expect from a good DAB radio such as frequency, audio bit rate, time, date, radio text, signal strength, programme type and power status. For some of this information you just have to press the 'info' button to change the information on the screen. The radio can act as a Bluetooth speaker, just press the mode button on the radio and when the BT icon is displayed on the screen you can pair your mobile phone and play music off the mobile onto the radio, very cool. It uses Bluetooth version 4.2.A good feature on this radio is the alarm functions, you can actually wake up to the radio or buzzer. It allows you to select the radio station, be it DAB or FM, select the volume level and also select the frequency of the alarm e.g. daily, weekday, weekend or just once. The radio allows you to have 2 separate alarms set. The duration of the the alarm can also be programmed to sound for 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 or 120 minutes. The display can be adjusted in the settings menu, it can be dimmed, brightened, switched off after a certain amount of time etc. When using batteries the radio display will be constantly on, even in standby mode, however this can be changed in the settings to go off after a duration of time. There's also a sleep function which can be set up to 90 minutes. If you plug in your headphones the sound you will hear will be in actual stereo! As I mentioned earlier on, I'm very pleased with this radio and would happily recommend it.Package Contents:1 x Radio1 x Power supply1 x Detailed manualA few specifications: Voltage is 6V on battery, power used when on mains is 5W, is less than 1W when on standby, DAB tuning range is 174.9-239.2 MHz, FM tuning range is 87.5-108MHz.
