I do oil it regularly, and it has maintained its rich look. In the past, other cutting boards made from multiple pieces would start to come apart within one year and they become very unhygienic due to the crack appearing between the pieces. This cutting board is one solid piece. Sturdy and beautiful. Definitely recommend for people who enjoy high quality equipment in the kitchen.
