The hand can get very hot doing this. **Q: How do you calibrate this thermometer it keeps reading -40°F after changing the battery.** A: That's a very good question. When I turn my thermometer on, it usually reads the air temp in the kitchen. With that said, boil some water, insert the thermometer and it should read 212 degrees - this is the temperature of boiling water. If it does not read 212, then buy another thermometer! **Q: What are the actual dimensions of this...the pic says 4.5, 2.75 for the probe and 1.75 for the body? the pic shows the body as bigger?** A: Thank you for catching this!
