A good all around plectrum,
The red dunlop Jazz III XL is made of the same smooth nylon that the regular red Jazz III is made of, only it is slighly larger in length and width but not in thickness (YEAH!!!). The regular red is popular with too many guitarists to mention here, and for good reason it is very smooth in texture and plays quickly with a nice snappy release and a firm reponsive feel. It doesn't color the sound of your picking with unpleasant overtones or plinkyness, and it is pretty durable. I like the XL size better because I have thick hands and fingers and it is easier for me play than the smaller regular jazz III. The XL extends far enough out from my grip that the meat or muscle in back the thumb does not extend beyound the plectrum, this is important when crosspicking quickly, the regular Jazz III is sometimes just too small in my grip. Of the 3 picks I am most likely to pick up this is the number 2. I particularly like it's sound for jazz playing and for rhythm track strumming on acoustics when a hard pick like Clayton ultex's can sometimes be too sharp sounding. Interestingly this is one of very few picks I have found that record and sound good playing nylon string guitars, most likely because of its smoothness of texture. I really wish Dunlop Co. would make ther ultem jazz III in XL size it would probably be my new favorite.. The price for a pack like all dunlop products is very reasonable, now go play guitar..

Great Picks (more suitable for lead playing)
Wanted to try this XL jazz pick out, since I liked the Kirk Hammett jazz 3 guitar picks (which are really small but have a good tone). These picks are “normal size” and same thickness as the KH Jazz 3, but have slightly more attack imo.

a good pick
If you have never tried these, you should. I've been using Tortex green and blue for years, and like them compared to lots of others, but always feel my flatpicking leads lacked in accuracy and speed. The pick gets caught up too much. But I thought it was me (and surely some of it is) but I got these last night and game them a try--never would have thought that a pick could make such a difference. The shape of the point, the thickness of the pick, the size, even the raised lettering which gives some grip, all seem to give me much more control.. For some reason I thought a stiff pick like this might be hard to use for rythym but it works fine for strumming too. I don't know how they work on acoustic yet but for electric they are so good I'm writing a review for a pick! I chose XL because of large hands and transition from what I'm used to but now I'm interested in also trying regular jazz size.

Very Cool
I like these a lot, I think Nylon is a really good material for an XL. I like these a lot for more complicated rhythm stuff

Top 10 pick for me, but some caveats
Idk why, but the red sound better to me than the black Stiffos.Much better than the regular, small jazz picks if you actually like to do anything other than solo... However, it doesn't have max grip or material choices.A max grip version JUST LIKE THIS (same material) and an alternate, carbon fiber version with max grip would be amazing. In fact, go ahead and add max grip to the Jim Root pick too.

I love it!
I have used the smaller Jazz threes which I liked but they were just too small. I've used these X cells and they deliver the same great tone in a larger pic so it's easier to hold. These pics are made of nylon and they are 1.14 mm if I remember correctly. I really like the Dunlop Max grip nylon pics but I also like the TIII tortex picks. These Jazz III XL Picks are nice blend of features. This is definitely one of my top 3 favorite picks.
