The Smart Clock 50271 255C fingerprint reader for recording and reporting employee attendance data requires a validated fingerprint for an employee to clock in, stores up to eight fingerprint templates per employee, has a real-time clock, and a large LCD screen. The reader helps to provide secure and accurate business payroll data and control overtime, and 128 KB of flash memory helps to reduce false readings. It is housed in strong and lightweight acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) plastic, and its internal lithium battery (included) keeps the correct date and time, even during a power failure.Dimensions are 5 x 6.75 x 3.5 inches (H x W x D), and it weighs one pound. (H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.) It has an embedded 22 MHz 80C32 Intel microprocessor, an RS 232 port and a 25-foot serial cable for communication, and an RS 485 port that allows it to connect to up to 32 readers. It operates on a 7VDC and 700 mA power adapter. The reader requires Smart Clock software (sold separately), which can be used with Microsoft Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP, Vista, and Windows 7.
