Saiyuki Vol. 3 Paperback – July 13, 2004

I pre-ordered every new Saiyuki release they've made available, and I can't overstate how happy I am that I did that. As has been the case with the prior releases, this book is AWESOME. I LOVE these editions! They're gorgeous hard cover books, with high quality paper, larger images and color panels. Best purchases EVER, and by far the coolest manga I own. I really, strongly recommend this series - I'm desperately hoping that they'll be able to bring over the rest of this series (Saiyuki Reload, Saiyuki Reload BLAST, Saiyuki Gaiden...). There's so much story left that we never got in the American market, so if this sells well, maybe they'll bring over the rest! I've got my fingers crossed. Thanks for the great books and the epic series!

I love this series. But we warned before you start reading this, it's not a complete story. Reload is kind of the middle adventure of the whole story.I like it on it's own, but many won't. I'm not even sure if the final set to the series was ever published in English. I just know I never read it.This is basically a story about a bunch of really disfunctional guys on a journey trying to do the right thing, but almost always failing in some small way (or big way) before they get it right... enough.I don't think you need to do back to read the initial series Reload. I think this one gives enough background to the characters to be happy with the story. Because for the most part it is hilarious.This volume's focus is on Sanzo and Goku.

I have enjoyed this series for many, many years. It has been out of print for nearly that same amount of time. I was ecstatic when it was announced the original series was being re-released in a hardcover omnibus.The oversized pages are clear and crisp, and the color pages at the beginning of the volume are beautiful. I've had every one of these volumes pre-ordered the moment they were available and can't wait for the last of them to be released. I truly do hope they also bring back Reload as the final volume was never published in English, and release Reload Blast, Gaiden, and Ibun.

I love the Saiyuki series and when I saw hardcovers there was no way I wasn't going to get them. The books are quality in comparison to the original paperbacks and I've actually had to purchase an extra set as a gift when my sister saw them.

Excellent story and art.

The anime never did the Manga justice. Certain episodes in Gensomaden Saiyuki came close. In Reload 3, the story arc, "against the stream" ends and the new story arc, the astounding "burial" begins. In "burial" we have all the elements of Saiyuki we love - great characterization, deeply emotional story lines and of course the poignant humour and wit. It is also from here the anime and manga deviates and of course nothing can ever beat Minekura's manga version.Just found out that the "burial" story arc will be made into OVA this year and this is definitely something to look forward to.
