Copper Sulfate Crystals-10lb Bag (FINE Crystals)

We have been battling bamboo that the neighbors planted next to our fence. It has been an ongoing struggle for literally years trying to keep it at bay. We live in the south so the dirt is hard clay, and nearly impossible to dig up. We were told to try this so we did, and it seems to be doing the trick. We are using it in addition to adding a bamboo shield along the fence line (after digging up what we could), but needed something to kill the bamboo between the shield and the fence. This was easy to dissolve in hot water. Be sure to use gloves, a mask and eye protection to be safe when using it.

I’ve used this copper sulfate two years to kill and prevent algae out of my pond without killing the fish. I’ve learned it doesn’t work if the water is colder than 70 degrees. I add blue dye in the winter to keep the sunlight from making the algae grow as much. The dye doesn’t work as well in the bright summer days, so I use the copper sulfate about once every other week in the summer.

I switched over to copper sulfate crystals this year and found that they do a great job of keeping the pool algae free. It is easy to use and you just dissolve it in a 5 gallon bucket and then pour it around the pool. After brushing the sides of my pool, and running the filter overnight the pool looked amazing. This stuff is very effective at algae control and the small crystals make it easy to dissolve in the pool water.For root control we found that this did do a good job but after reading of the potential hazards if it is ingested we opted not to put large quantities of down as we didn't want us or others to get sick if it got into the ground water.EDIT: I was asked about dosing rates for the pool and with the help of a chemist, was handed this formula that I then put into Excel and used to calculate what I needed for our 20,000 gallon pool - 5.25 ounces (by WEIGHT). The formula is =[Desired concentration in ppm]*[Size of pool in gallons]*3.7854*249.7/63.546*(1/28350), where 3.7854 is liters/gallon, 249.7 is mg of CopperSulfate Pentahydrate, 63.546 is the mg of Copper you get out of the CuSO4∙5H2O, 1/28350 converts mg to ounces. A must have to kill tree root after the septic tank if you have a pipe to pour it in.

This is very good quality copper sulfate and it comes at a price you couldn’t beat hardly anywhere else. We bought the 10lb bag, and when we weighed it after delivery, we were very happily surprised to see it was actually a couple ounces over 10lbs rather than under. When comparing it to a few other brands we’ve tried, this product seems to have the finest crystals and a very high degree of purity. We will definitely be getting more in the future.

I have used cooper sulfate in my inground people before but never this brand. I ordered because of the price and the amount you get in the Bag and I just figured that I would refill the container that I had. But this copper sulfate, I am not happy with at all although it's much finer particles it's left a horrible film in my pool like oily and I have blue particles floating in my water almost like plastic. I know it's this brand product. Don't recommend this one if you using for pool water treatments. As I seen in other reviews I will use this in my septic tank/toilets for root killing.
