I do not see how it is possible for anyone to learn to code Android apps from this book.
This is a poor book, too superficial and too inconsistent for a programming book. I learned Android using Kotlin from various online courses. I bought this book expecting to find thorough explanations for some of the concepts. This book fails to do that for every concept that it presents. I fact, I question if anyone can learn Android from this book. There is not enough depth to present topics well for understanding and code will often not run because of deprecated methods that are not remedied in the errata. The quality of the figures is poor, frequently unreadable. The solution is to download the offered color pdf version of the book where the figures can be clearly seen. The book touches on many key concepts but in superficial ways, not useful in detail for someone who doesn't know the subject and is trying to learn it. Clear examples are the sections on classes and lambdas. Very poor.View binding is introduced early. That would be good except that the downloadable code does not have the view binding code in it - it is only in the book. The errata page is empty - no reported errors. Unbelievable. Here and there are some quite useful bits of information but not enough for a book.
