Perfect for kids and better/more reliable than others. I originally had the white one by the same company with the 6 sounds, it worked well until I knocked it off the dresser on to the hard floor after about 6 months to a year. I really liked it so I searched for the same brand and found this one which we’ve used every day for over a year. If you’re looking for high quality sound you should spend the high quality price, this brand and unit are made of plastic and I’m sure there are lemons out there, I’m finally writing this review because I was looking at getting another as my daughter is growing up and moving into her own room away from her younger siblings. I was kind of shocked by the negative reviews. If you have an issue then contact support, if you don’t get the help you’re looking for, then open the thing up since you’re already out the money and check the soldering connections. I’ve fixed so many broken kids toys. I did fix the original one but eventually stopped working given the kids had access to it, yanking it biting it slobber.... you get it, this item for me is tried and true, it’s only garbage if you make it garbage. Work with the seller first before putting a review up, there’s a lot of people that are looking for just this, and being deterred by negative reviews for people that just want to negate something that isn’t perfect. Perfection comes at a price and sorry to break it to you but $20 sounds good to my children. If you want the Bose or high quality experience then you need to plan to spend accordingly, you get what you pay for and this is priced just right for what it is in my opinion. I’m about to purchase another one of these now.

This white noise machine is fabulous. The assortment of sounds is excellent and each one is very clear. They don't run on an obvious loop like some brands which is very important to me. I appreciate the compact, modern design of the Big Red Rooster. For some reason, most white noise machines appear to be designed to take up as much room as possible on the bedside table. Why, oh, why? This is small enough to fit pretty much anywhere, meanwhile, it seems to have a much better speaker than any of the other brands I've seen. The last white noise machine we bought was ok but the volume was extremely limited. Others I've looked at sound tinny or distorted if the volume was turned up. This one sounds pleasant and clear across the range of volumes. The controls and the sound machine, overall, appeared to be high-quality and well-made. I bought this as a gift for my mom and she is really enjoying it. It seemed like a great deal, particularly at the price. It offered a lot more functionality and different sound options than white noise machines that cost several times more.I was impressed by the London Johnson company. They emailed me when the sound machine had shipped (and it shipped out very quickly after I ordered it - I think it was the next day!) and they provided me with a contact in case I had any problems with the purchase. They followed up after I received the sounds machine to make sure it had arrived and that I was happy with my purchase. This was exceptional customer service. I didn't have any problems but it was comforting to know that the company selling it was ready and willing to provide customer service, if needed.

This is our second noise machine for the bedroom. The first one was a different brand and just didn't have good variety of sounds, or sound quality, but at least it worked. We got this one about a month ago and it is terrible. Don't believe the reviews, they're probably being paid for or something as has become rampant on Amazon. I am a 100% real person who purchased this product. You turn it on and it does have a good variety of sounds, and the quality is adequate. The trouble is the way the sounds are looped, it's very obvious, and then every so often the thing makes this absolutely horrid sound (think the sound that a walkie talkie makes when you push the button, like a "krrr" sound, but twice as loud as the ocean/thunderstorm/whatever noise you're listening to). It does this on every sound setting. At first I thought it was whenever the sound looped but then it started cutting out for 2-4 seconds at a time with the "krrch" sound every time it shut off and came back on. It is totally unsuable because you cannot fall asleep with constant annoying noises. This thing is a 100% piece of crap. The buttons are so cheap and when you press one it makes this cheap tinny sound so you know it's made with inferior parts and lots of plastic junk that will break. Even with that the thing would be acceptable if it didn't make that terrible noise intermittently every time you use it.Again, do not buy. Don't give this company your money. Spend $15 more and get one that actually works. Hope this helps someone out there avoid getting screwed like we did. It's not worth the cost to return it.
