I must say I only discovered Lana about a year ago, but Ive deep dived into her catalog and now have spent considerable time with all of her records except "ocean Blvd " which I ordered today. I love them all in somewhat different ways and some more than others but (and I may be dead wrong on this because I haven't followed her career very long) I feel this is the great album that everybody slept. It seems rather ignored and therefore I didn't have very high hopes for it. Boy, was I blown out of the water. This is a solid album with no tracks to skip and loaded with everything that makes Lana the immaculate enigma she is Truly, one of her best. Perhaps it suffered in the long shadow cast by "NFR" followed by her weakest(imo),Chemtrails, or maybe the fact that they all came out in rapid succession. Who knows but this album certainly needs more attention and more respect than I see it recieving. Absolutely heartbreaking. I love you Lana. Hope I get to meet you one day and give you a big hug

Lana’s best album

Love the album. But it came a tiny bit damaged inside, and I was afraid it scratched the bottom of the cd. When I started playing the cd, it made a weird sound. Hopefully it was a tiny issue and there will be no issues with the sound

I have been listening to Blue Banisters since it’s release and I wanted to give it a thorough listen before reviewing. After almost 2 months of daily listening I’ve decided it’s my favorite LDR album yet and I have them all. This is a deeply personal album and the majority of Blue Bannisters feels extremely autobiographical. Her songwriting has never been better. And her voice is doing things I’ve never heard before. On songs like Arcadia, Blue Banisters and Beautiful Her vocal range is gorgeous. The way she ends the song Wildflower Wildfires sends chills up my spine every time. LDR sings about vulnerability with lyrics like “ The Santa Clarita Fires scare me, I wish that it would rain” sound terrifying and beautiful all at once. A third of the album is from earlier recordings but these songs like Dealer, Thunder etc. are excellent. My only suggestion would have been to start the album with these older songs and morph into the newer songs. Blue Bannisters is Lana at her best. I commend her for putting out such high caliber music consistently over the past decade. LDR is an American musical icon.

Nachdem Lana Del Rey bereits am 19. März dieses Jahres ihr siebtes Studioalbum „Chemtrails Over The Country Club“ veröffentlichte, folgt lediglich ein gutes halbes Jahr später gleich die Nummer 8 unter dem Titel „Blue Banisters“. Das Album hatte die US-amerikanische Sängerin sogar bereits für den Sommer, ursprünglich unter dem Titel „Rock Candy Sweet“ angekündigt gehabt. Jetzt am 22. Oktober war es dann endlich soweit. Fünfzehn neue Lieder der Lana Del Rey, die überwiegend ganz im Stile ihrer bisherigen Musik gehalten sind. Und das ist keineswegs langweilig oder man hat das Gefühl, alles schon mal gehört zu haben. Auf „Blue Banisters“ erweitert Lana Del Rey ihren Liedkatalog und wer bereits ihre vorherigen Alben mochte, die oder der wird auch auf „Blue Banisters“ jede Menge Musik für sich finden. Dieser wunderschöne und so gefühlvolle Gesang der Lana Del Rey in Verbindung zu dieser zarten, mitunter fast schon zerbrechlich wirkenden Instrumentierung, lässt einen ganz schnell in eine andere Welt eintauchen. Die Lieder klingen allesamt eingängig und sind mit Melodien ausgestattet, die sofort das Ohr umschmeicheln und sich darin festsetzen. Langweilig klingt das nie, immer jedoch einnehmend und einfach schön. Mit dem kurzen Titel „Interlude – The Trio“, ein Lied, welches Ennio Morricone für den Italo-Western „The Good, The Bad And The Ugly“ (auf Deutsch „Zwei glorreiche Halunken“) geschrieben hat, lockert Lana Del Rey das Album auf. Auch das Lied „Dealer“, an dessen Entstehung unter anderem auch der englische Musiker Miles Kane mitgewirkt hat, fällt musikalisch etwas aus dem Rahmen. In diesem leicht psychedelisch angehauchten Lied klingt Lana Del Rey nicht verträumt und sehnsüchtig, sondern verzweifelt und verloren, ganz dem Inhalt des Liedes angepasst. Dies sind die beiden Ausnahmen auf „Blue Banisters“. Ansonsten hört man ein trauriges, düsteres Klavier oder eine gezupfte Gitarre, zu denen Lana Del Rey ihre Texte wundervoll gefühlvoll einsingt, die sich viel mit ihrer Umgebung und ihrem Leben beschäftigen. Manchmal ernst, mitunter leicht ironisch. Das Album endet mit dem Lied „Sweet Carolina“, welches sie zusammen mit ihrer Schwester und ihrem Vater geschrieben hat. Ein würdiger Abschluss für ein wunderschönes Album. Fazit: Wer die Musik der Lana Del Rey bisher mochte, wird auch „Blue Banisters“ mögen. Verträumte und intensive, eingängige und melodiöse, sanfte und unaufgeregte Lieder, die einen ganz in die musikalische Welt der Lana Del Rey eintauchen lassen. Mir gefällt das sehr, was ich hier zu hören bekomme und auch, wenn diese Platte bereits das zweite Album innerhalb kürzester Zeit ist, so scheinen Lana Del Rey die Ideen nicht auszugehen. Und das ist sehr schön.
