Do the bulbs get hot ?

The top of the bulb is cool, but the base gets extremely hot. You wouldn't be able to touch it, even with light at 50% brightness.

How many shades of white?

Id say there are about 4 different shades of white specifically. There are other shades of yellow and whatnot too but there are 4 of the nice, mellow shades that could pass as an everyday lightbulb.

Can you set a default color ? I want the bulb to be a certain color every time the bulb is turned off and then on.
