When researching preventing or reversing atherosclerosis a few years ago, a came across an article that said that Serrapeptase, which can break down proteins, can help reduce scarring in the arteries and thereby reduce plaque buildup. I have been using it ever since. Like Bromelain, which is sourced from pineapple and used as a digestive aid, Serrapeptase should be taken on an empty stomach, and I take Bromelain at the same time and for the same purpose, protein breakdown, though I might take an additional Bromelain capsule later on, depending on the meal.
