Behrens Galvanized Steel Trash Can 20 gallon

Made in USA: We researched Behrens. Cans are made in USA. Great!!! Steel lasts, provided one doesn't cut a tree and land it on top of the can, as I did one time. I have a beaten-up steel can that's decades old, outlasting multiple plastic cans and lids. Behrens metalwork: Sure enough, the Behrens steel metalwork is well fitted, well galvanize coated, and sturdy. Lid: The lid sensibly fits over the plastic bag fitted over the rim. The lid has a perimeter protrusion so it is easy to grab the lid edge and remove the lid. I NEVER saw THAT before. O other cans I'd about kill my fingertips trying to pry a lid off. Why pry? Because I had already yanked the center handle out of its rivets trying to remove the lid. On Behrens, one does NOT have to yank a lid center handle or try to pry the edges. Fitment of bags into can: with 30 gallon plastic bags on 30 gallon cans, one strains to stretch the bag and it's closure string over the can rim, then can't get one's fingers out. 30 gallon bags fit this 20 gallon can just fine. (Reduce plastic size to allegedly save cost. Then have to use more bags !??* ?) Location: The 20 gallon can is small enough so that we set it into the carport. Now in cold or heat, rain or snow, we stay out of some weather as we use the can. I guess if one needed a bigger can and had more carport space, that would also work. Conclusion: We are SO pleased to find a fine Made in USA product. A little more price, but multiple the functional years. That's how to reduce the landfill.

This is a nice quality heavy duty can that has good weight to it. I'm using it to store my dogs dry food away from rodents. The lid fits nice and tight but not to tight that you struggle to remove lid. They must have forgotten the handle on lid or just stopped making them that way. Holds a 50lb bag of food perfectly leaving enough room for the big scoop I use to feed them with. Overall this can is better than expected and it should last decades. The lid is easy to remove and can functions perfectly 👌. I'm buying another for use as a Faraday cage to protect equipment and you probably should too. 100% recommend this can.

These galvanized cans are perfect for outdoor storage of birdseed. Squirrels were crewing through screen door in sunroom to get to my birdseed. I made the mistake of buying plastic containers outside which they chewed through day one! These can have flat tops and I place an 8lb dumbbell on top for additional security. Seems to do the trick. I feed the squirrels so we have an agreement that they don’t chew the seat cushions on the patio furniture like they do at my buddy Larry’s house!

Adequate product. Sturdy. Tighter seat on the lid or latching mechanism would improve for our use of storing animal feed

APPEARS TO BE STURDY AND WELL MADE BUT THE LID HAS NO HANDLE HOWEVER THERE IS A RIM AROUND THE LID THAT CAN BE USED TO REMOVE IT. THE RIM NEEDS TO BE PRESSED DOWN ALL THE WAY AROUND SO IT DOESN'T HOLD WATER (NOT A BIG DEAL). ITS THE PERFECT SIZE FOR 2-40# BAGS OF OILED SUNFLOWER SEEDS FOR THE BIRDS.

Perfect for storing 30ish pound sack of dogfood. The lid fits tightly and prevents animals from getting into it when stored outside. Atractive enough to leave on our back porch.

Not sure why so many are raving about this cheaply made POS of a can. It is very thin and weak. Comes pre-dented for you because of the breeze that blew over it on delivery. Says made in America......ha ha ha ha lol. I wouldn't brag....it is an embarrassment that this is the kind of garbage we now make. They made sure to put a couple big American flags on the stickers. Also claims "High grade STEEL". Yes they even fully capitalized the word steel. Also says "more durable and longer lasting than plastic". What a joke. I have some heavy plastic cans that I have had at least 10 years now. They are in very good shape still. I am a contractor and have given them hell. I am not joking when I say this can would not last one job without getting all dented and cut. One tile job would destroy it in minutes. My heavy plastic cans are wayyyyyyy more durable than this. It's not even a question. They have a lot of nerve even thinking of claiming this thing is more durable. Just a straight up lie. I have had galvanized cans in the past and they were incredibly tough. That is a thing of the past now for sure. I bought this can to put my coal ash in. I need metal because the ash could be a bit hot sometimes so I couldn't use plastic. I need a galvanized can because I have to keep it outside. Will see how long before I throw it away. If you want this for more than storing air......dont buy it. Not worth returning.

The only reason why they only got a four star is because of the price a garbage can that cost almost $200 that’s ridiculous but it’s gonna last forever and is very durable

When I received the Item it was found dented in several places. This kind of mishandling and mispackaging, and using the fact that it is a garbage bin is still unacceptable for receiving an item not in proper shape considering the price I paid. The fact that it is a garbage bin seems to be a poor excuse to throw it around until it is received. Buyer beware you may not get this item in the exact condition you pay for.
