Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) is a neurotrophic factor that promotes the survival of various neuronal cell types. EGF is used to promote stem cells and cell lines in culture. It is typically used in the concentration of 5-10 µg/ml. EGF has been shown to interact with the epidermal growth factor receptor and PIK3R2. rHu EGF produced in E. coli is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain that contains 53 amino acids and has a molecular mass of 6.2 kDa.
