Awesome DI box.
I use it with my Classicals, Steel Strings acoustics, my Hollowbody Ibanez and Fender Stratocaster guitars and it improved their sound. A metal enclosure will provide resistance to the abuse and sometime neglect that it endures when on the road. I love it and highly recommend it.

Great direct box.
Sturdy, works great. Owned one of these previously and line-lift button finally would not work, BUT, I got 10+ years out of it.

This one is more expensive for a reason
On the advice of experienced studio musicians, I bought a DI box for recording guitar and bass. (Not this one). I was tired of overplaying and still getting anemic, lifeless guitar sounds on playback. My first DI box alleviated the problem but I still couldn't get the full-blooded sound of a well amped guitar. My guitar sounds still lacked the midrange definition I was looking for, so it was back to the marketplace. All the reviews mentioned the Radial DI so I tried it. I don't know how one transformer can be so different from another (a DI box is basically a transformer) but it is! Now I can just play without having to think about compensating for signal loss. Works well for bass, too. Much more body and less string slap. It's expensive for what it is but it works.

Industry Standard
As a professional musician who's day job is an audio engineer, I use these constantly. I would not buy a different brand, they're worth the money. Silent, reliable, and bulletproof makes this the industry standard. I use this one for my own music, to run my keyboard to house backlines/PA systems. It's always going to ensure a good clean signal with no hum.

THE best direct box for the money
As the leader of the sound team in my congregation, I found myself regularly fetching replacement direct boxes for the Berhringer and other brand boxes on stage, due to noise or him, insufficient gain or just a dead box. What I noticed over time is that I never had to replace any of the Radial boxes, and in fact the musicians would sometimes ask me specifically for one. So I started stocking up on them and eventually replaced all of the other boxes with Radials. Now I simply don't worry about the boxes at all--they just work and they work well. These boxes are compact and simple, they sound great with no audible noise, and they're solid as a rock. The Pro D2 stereo boxes are just as reliable, and I've purchased a few of those to cover our keyboardists and drum sets with success. We have a couple powered Pro48 boxes that work well, but at some point I hope to have passive direct boxes exclusively, and leave the phantom power for our condenser microphones. These passive boxes are perhaps the most reliable component in all our sound equipment and I highly recommend to all musicians and venues, big or small.

Night and Day difference...
You may notice: this DI box only has 4 and 5 star ratings. Its wonderful. I wanted to get the JDI though money was tight and I was using points on my credit card to make the purchase. I went with this because I only needed the basics anyway.I keep this in my utility bag. Many venues already have a DI and I just use what they have. Some smaller places may have basic sound equipment though no extras like DIs or adapters. In a situation like this you may get through the show with no issues though after using this, I realize when going direct into a board DI isn't just convenient: it's a necessity. It makes a world of difference.I played a spot recently and this box saved the performance: we were having issues with sound and once we were able to get signal there was a lot of extra noise. Using the ground lift eliminated the hum and buzzing and kept the guitar signal strong. I actually now prefer putting my guitar and vocals through a pa/mixer because it's less for me to carry to the place and exceptional sound. I would recommend this DI box as a great sounding and problem solving way to go direct in. I think it's the only way to go.

Great Performance, Great Price
I use this Direct Box in my recording studio for base guitar, primarily. It's been great.

Great Sound
These units have great sound and functionality, and are incredibly durable. My only complaint is that the foam rubber pad glued to the bottom will eventually peel off or fall apart. For my use, a smooth metal surface on the bottom is just fine, but for others who need the pad to keep the unit from slipping, be aware that you may have to reaffix some foam rubber after a year or two of use.
