I’m always bumping my head when I do projects around the house. So glad I found this item! Fits great in my cap, very comfortable and no more bumping my head and bleeding. I suggest using a little double sided tape to help attach it more firmly to the cap.

Let me paint a picture: I’m in my garage, just vibing, when BAM, another stealth attack from the corner of a shelf I installed myself. That’s when I knew I had two choices: start wearing a helmet like I’m in a continuous episode of “Jackass,” or find something subtle that doesn’t make me look like I’m prepping for a medieval joust. Enter the Ergodyne Skullerz 8945F(x), the Tony Stark of bump cap inserts. It’s slim. It’s flexible. It slides into your everyday cap like it’s just chilling, but secretly it’s out here saving your brain cells from betrayal by doors, beams, and open hatchbacks. The first time I wore it, I tested it the only way a mature adult would: I headbutted a cabinet on purpose. (Okay, it was on accident, but let’s say it was research.) And you know what? No stars. No birds. Just a satisfying thud followed by smug silence. My hat didn’t even shift. I strutted off like I’d just won a bar fight with drywall. Comfort-wise, it’s weirdly impressive. It’s like a tiny turtle shell for your head, but breathable and discreet. I wore it for hours and forgot it was even in my hat until I took it off and flinched like my head had been abandoned. If you work in tight spaces, bump your head a lot, or just want to feel lowkey invincible while doing chores, this little guy is worth it. Bonus: you’ll look exactly the same, but with 100% more head protection and 78% fewer curse words shouted at inanimate objects. 10/10 would recommend. Cabinet corners, beware.

I used this while corner marshaling at an SCCA race weekend recently. Helped keep my head warm and my wet cap off my head. Gives some surprisingly effective protection from bumping your head on low beams, getting smacked by balls of race rubber off racecars, etc. I put it in 3 different hats and it fit well in 2 of them - the third had a rivet keeping the back strap attached to the cap and it didn't allow the Skullerz from tucking into that hat. If you're using this in just one hat it's easy enough to trim the Skullerz to fit nicely in your ball cap, but if you want to use it in different ball caps then I found it fit differently in each cap, so consider each cap before trimming. I'm using it without trimming and it is acceptable in my flagging cap.

Perfect for hubby to wear at work. The ones they provide are a solid one piece with no flex and can be quite uncomfortable to wear all day. These can be worn under his cap or a bandana comfortable and they keep his head safe while working on big trucks.

I ordered a pair of these in October 2023, and I write this review August 2025. I'm still on the first of the two-pack, and I have one inserted into a baseball cap 100% of the time I wear one, which is pretty much every day. So I have hundreds of hours of wearing this bump cap insert so far. I tend to hurt myself when I'm busy, overwhelmed, distracted, tired, or running late, whether it's bumping my head on something or stubbing a toe or running into a door frame or the edge of a table. These little cap protectors really work, and they've saved my head from probably dozens or hundreds of small bumps. Example: Have you ever opened your garage door only part-way because you just need to do something real quick and then stood up and bumped your head on it? Hurts pretty bad. Wearing an Ergodyne Skullerz bump cap insert really does absorb and disperse a lot of the force and shock that would otherwise be transferred to your head, taking it from an ouchie and potential injury to a nothing-burger. Have you ever tried to pick something up from under a desk or table and misjudged where the edge was when standing back up? Have you ever been working on your car and bumped your head? These really do work, and mine are still in immaculate condition (no scratches or cracks) after more than a year and a half, so it appears very durable. Caveat, these aren't helmets and obviously won't protect from serious forces, but for every day wear? Perfect. Not a single person has made a comment or noticed, so they are pretty much invisible under most caps. You can sort of see the gray on the back of the cap where you adjust the size of the cap, but it's not a big deal. Highly recommended and really do save your head from minor bumps.

These are a great safety item, have saved my head from lots of bumps since I started using them. I have about half a dozen hats with these in them now. Cons: - They are very warm and you will sweat a lot with them. It helps if you use a trucker style hat where the rear 2/3 of the hat is mesh, but it's still warm. - They will smell bad after some use, because of the sweating. However, they are pretty easy to clean, a little hand soap and water will work in a pinch, so will Febreze, or basically anything. It's neoprene and hard plastic, you can wash with all sorts of things. Pros: - No more headers. Seriously, these are awesome if you do any sort of work where you tend to hit your head on stuff. I used to bang my head on all sorts of things and just deal with it, but with these, no more. A small head bump doesn't bother me at all anymore. - Hats fit better. It takes a few times, but once you install this in a hat, and wear it a bit, the hat will retain its shape around the protector and keep it. Hats slip on and off super easy and don't get "ruined" if they're not carefully handled. - Lightweight and unobtrusive. Compared to standard safety hats and helmets, it's no contest, these blend right in and no one even notices them. - Cheap enough to have a bunch, and therefore have all your regular hats be safety hats. The real upside is you will actually wear them, all the time, and be protected.

Cap insert works great for all my baseball hats. Easily interchangeable. Very comfortable and great value. Light weight too.

J'ai acheté cette protection pour mettre sous un chapeau en wingfoil. Elle passe très bien et ne bouge pas une fois le chapeau enfilé, et même après de grosses chutes. Je me suis déjà prit la planche et le foil sur la tête et bien je peux dire que ça protège très bien. On peut facilement découper la protection pour l'adapter à quasiment n'importe quelle casquette/chapeau/etc...

It fit in my cap great and no one can tell it’s there. I work in an environment with low hanging obstacles and this offers just enough security.

Ottimo prodotto, sono molto soddisfatto dell'acquisto. Molto facile da adattare alla misura del cappello, si può tagliare comodamente con forbici (purchè siano ben affilate). Ho applicato la protezione ad un cappello che utilizzo per fare windsurf: è risultata molto più confortevole di quanto mi sarei aspettato, ed oltre a proteggere dagli impatti risulta anche molto fresco, grazie alla forma rigida cd ai fori presenti lateralmente passa molta più aria rispetto al cappello senza protezione. Non è molto economico, ma lo ricomprerei.

Well vented. Good protection against small/slight bumps (in and out of a van all day long). Bought as a replacement insert for a port west (small peak) bump cap PS59 which it fits perfectly. Doesn't fit the large brim port west bump cap. Would buy again
