Nuts For Alpha Notes, V. U. Level C: Pre-Reading Songs and Activities for Early Primer Piano Students (Andrea and Trevor Dow's Very Useful Piano Library)

much needed book for beginners
I've been teaching for 25 years and this is EXACTLY what was missing from music books for beginners. Thanks for creating these "alpha notes" to help students transition from reading the notes with letter names on them to notes in middle C position on the staff. Plus, the cartoon graphics are adorable. One of my young girls said with a huge grin on her face, "That squirrel is so cute I can't stop looking at it." She came back this week very excited to play the first song and said she "loved it."

My favorite VU, so far!
I like all of the VU books, but this one is my favorite! For students who are in WK Primer 1 and just grasping what it means to read music, this is a wonderful way to build confidence with note-reading skills. I have several young students who are currently working through this book, and they come back to lessons excited to show me how they learned a new song "all by themselves." For the primer student who needs extra confidence with early note-reading in middle-C position, this is a must-have book!

Great Book for Beginners
Another great book by the Dow's. Fun songs, colorful pages and extra activities to help reinforce notes and directional reading for early primer students who are not yet reading on the staff.

Very Clever, Cute Book to Review White Key Names
This is a terrific book written by the Dow's!! Included are cute pieces, lyrics, and games to reinforce white keys names (alpha notes). A great book for children to use who need more review on white keys and letter names before moving to staff reading.

Charming & Well Thought Out!
What a special way to introduce young students to music learning and enjoyment! I love the picture maps included for students to reference note names, the early introduction of keyboard notes. The teacher duets are another special feature in this book and allow for early excitement as students learn to connect through music making! Bravo, Wunderkeys team! PS. I am using this book after the "Chillin' on the Black Keys" resource for ages 5-8 but it can also be used as a stand alone introduction that moves at a really lovely pace for creating musical enjoyment and strong, broad, music foundations for a lifetime of musical creativity ahead!

Student success
Miss 6 was really struggling with alpha notes and keyboard awareness. I was reluctant to move her onto formal note reading. I decided to try this book with her and we are currently half way through it. She finally gets it and we are having lots of fun completing the activities and playing duets together. Highly recommended.
