Hero: A Rescue Dog Adventure About Danger and Unbreakable Bonds for Kids (Ages 8-12)

My son loves this series of books. He got all of them for Christmas and loves them.

This is a wonderful book for boys or girls who love dogs!It is especially good because the boys' father is a police officer who works with k9 dogs.This book will appeal to all young readers because of the subject matter plus it has suspense and the importance of friendship!

The story is about a a 12 year old boy in possession of a retired rescue dog named Hero who finds a small puppy scared and alone. While Ben is struggling to keep up with schoolwork, take care of his dogs and work on baseball, he is also dealing with a rude new kid at school who plays the same position as him in baseball. When he loses the puppy he has to turn to Hero's tracking skills to find him. This book has lots of intense action and moves quickly. My 11 year old recommends this book for 5th-6th grade. The words are simple to read but the plot is intricate. If you're looking for an action-packed dog themed book, this is the one.

My 9yr old 4th grader does not like to read. He reads as it’s required for school and nothing else. I chose this as he likes the idea of police dogs and he needed a few “realistic fiction” books. He loved it! Stayed up late a few nights as he begged me to let him read just one more chapter. Being that engaged in a book also helped him realize how to retain information and in turn, talk about the high level details in the story. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Fun read for kids. Nice story about a dog.

Reading is one of those things we have to push our son to do with all the other distractions there are. Not with this book. My son loved it and read it in a couple of days. Normally he would have taken a month with a book this size (not really that big) because he would get distracted. Reading a whole book over two hundred pages in a week has to be some kind of record for him. I will definitely look into more books by this author.

My 6 yo son loved reading this book with me. He loves dogs, this is a great story for a young boy. His fave is Where the Red Fern Grows. This can’t be compared to that classic novel but this is a good modern day boy/dog love story.

This is a great story. My 4th grader started and it couldn’t put it down.

This book series is a huge hit with my 9 year old son. One of the few adventure books with dogs for his age group. Loved it!

My son Couldn’t put this book down! That says more than enough if you would know it’s very hard to get him to read a book!
