ROOFULL External CD DVD Drive for Laptop, USB 3.0 Type-C Portable CD/DVD+/-RW...

I bought it because my new iMac doesn't have a CD/DVD drive (Pretty stupid, no? And I didn't want to pay $75 for the Mac SuperDrive.) So I was happy to see this drive since it was much less expensive. And the protection plan was really affordable, too. It arrived quickly and in excellent condition. It was incredibly easy to use, just plug and play on my iMac. I burned a CD and a DVD-R with ease. Initially, it seemed a bit noisy and vibrated but it seems to have settled down or else I moved it to a better location. The cord is short so it can't really move far. I played a DVD using iTunes with no problems. It did keep stalling when I tried to play CDs using iTunes. However, when I bypassed iTunes and used either QuickTime or the free VLC player app, it played the CD with no problems and no stalls. So, I figured it was an iTunes issue. I have used it for several weeks with no issues so far.

I bought this player specifically for a favorite old graphics program that needs its disc mounted to run, but it turns out this player does everything and does it well, for a REALLY good price. You kust plug it into a USB port and it's ready to go. I thought I had abused it a couple of weeks ago when it stopped recognizing a disc inside, so I contacted the company. The response was immediate, friendly and thorough. They included a troubleshooting guide in their response and assured me that if nothing resolved the problem they would just send me a new one. I followed the guide and when nothing helped I reported back, and they immediately sent me a new one, via UPS. They even followed up on that a few days later to make sure I got it and to assure me that they had my back if anything ever went wrong again. A company can't do better than that. If there were 10 stars I'd give them every single one.

I like to burn music to CDs for my trips out of town twice a month, this CD burner works super fast and I haven't have any problems with it at all. The attached cord is HANDY too, no more having to search for the right cable in my drawer to connect to my computer. Which is does instantly, I just plug it in and open my Windows Media Player (I'm old school, I know) and I select my songs from my music folder and paste them into the WMP and hit burn. Within 5 minutes of starting the burn I'm putting a label on the CD and out the door. I haven't used it as the regular CD drive to play my old games yet but if it burns with ease I'm sure it'll play those games too. I don't like downloading all my media onto a cloud that can be hacked, I like having hard copies - pictures, videos etc. on CDs so if something happens to my hard drives I have back up copies. I previously had another CD burner/drive and loved it, loaned it to my brother who lost it so I purchased this one, the compact design is SO FREAKING HANDY with storing it too. Well worth the money and it's light weight so I could put it in my laptop bag with all my accessories and it wasn't heavy at all. It weighs about the same as a DVD case, just feather light.

Out of the box this device works. All I had to do was plug it into a USB port using the built-in cable on my Windows 10 Laptop & it was recognized and functioning to burn a DVD. However, in order to get it to play a DVD movie, I did have to play around with the properties of the device (through the windows OS) and change the Device's Region FROM 2 TO 1. Region 1 is for the United States. It was a very simple thing to change and once I had it set for Region 1, we could play any DVD movie we had. I would definitely recommend this for anyone needing a small, portable and inexpensive DVD drive for a PC or Laptop. One other note is that Windows 10 does not include a DVD player application and I had to purchase and download a Windows DVD Player from the Windows Store. But that's not the fault of the Portable DVD Drive. Again, if you have the right software on your laptop and you change the Region to "1" for the United States, then this device WILL play DVD movies.

I burned probably 30 DVDs with this unit. Works great. I like how the cord stores in the bottom of the drive.

I want to preface my review with that I am very tech savvy, I help people troubleshoot devices daily, and have exhausted all the tricks and tips that tech support usually offer, plus some. This drive is worthless. It feels flimsy, cheap, and not durable at all. Right out of the box, it wouldn't open. I tried a different USB port, and it popped open so I thought maybe my port had gone bad on my new computer. Hey, it could happen, right? I put a DVD in and it played fine. The next disk it had a hard time reading. I checked to make sure the disk wasn't dirty or scratched. It was fine. Put it back in and it took a long time before it started to recognize the drive. Switched USB ports again, it worked. I put in a third disk, and again took a long time to recognize the drive. Discs 4 - 7 were the same. Disc 8 - absolutely nothing. After trying EVERY USB port on my computer, plus my external USB extenders, my computer continues NOT to recognize that there is a DVD player even plugged in. It. Just. Does. Not. Work. I was only trying to watch a few (legit) DVDs. I'm honestly not sure how this drive has gotten so many good reviews. The price tag is attractive, but after wasting $20 on this thing and the frustration of dealing with it, it's not worth it. Of course, it stopped working after the return window, so I'm out the money. I'll be looking for something better.

Love this little burner. I transferred ALL of my Bellydance Music CDs. I was so happy. Durable and easy to use. Conected directly into my Surface laptop with its USB cable. Its small and lightweight. Easily portable. I didnt have any problem with it being compatible with Microsoft Surface And there was no noise very happy with thos product

I purchased a new computer, and the laptop did not have a CD/DVD player because .... reasons? So, in order to use my current items, I purchased a USB converter (one port to four) and this, the DVD/CD player/writer. I have done a lot of graphic work in the past, so the idea of losing my rather extensive library of images was anaethma to me, so I needed something that would work with anything. This was a great investment. First of all, no driver installation! Yay for not having to fight drivers! I've noticed that as time has gone by, more and more items seem to be more and more proprietary, so having something that is just plug and play makes me very happy. Second, it was recognized when I plugged it into the converter! Again, accolades for pure ease of use! Since the new laptop has a limited number of USB ports, it is great to have a device that is recognized "one remove" away. These are, of course, the best parts, but it is also small and compact, meaning that it takes up very little of my workspace. Since my computer desk is also my art desk, this is important to me. Additionally, the short USB cord means that it is easy to manage, which again, helps when I am working on my computer while also painting. The tests that I performed were to use it to access my CDs (I have a rather thorough collection of the Dover CD-ROMs) and I was able to copy images from them quickly and easily. I played a few DVDs (I enjoy watching movies when painting), and they played with no issues. I also copied a set of images to a DVD for a friend (yeah, yeah, I know that I am behind the times there), and the images burned to the disk with no issues at all. This is a super useful device for anyone that needs to access CDs/DVDs, or even wants to write to them. Would highly recommend!

So far, so good. Only had this external drive for a week or so but so far it's performed impeccably. The form and design are very stylish; it looks great on my desk. It was immediately recognized and ready to go on my Windows 10 system. All I had to do was plug it in to an available USB 3.0 slot, but I'm sure it would also work fine with USB 2.0. I'm a satisfied customer.

This protable external DVD reader Writer works better then expected. Very quiet , and easy to use. Like the fact it is only 1 usb plug in. Design is nice and sleek in my opinion. Burned a data dvd well. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a external DVD.
