Disk drive replacement
excellent disk drive My kid xbox drive wasn’t working. I’m a mom, I have never replaced a disk drive before. You need to use a soldering iron, this is where i struggle a little because i never in my life have use a soldering iron . Everything came out good, the disk drive is working perfectly fine.

Didn’t work
Was easy enough to get installed, but it came with a little rust on it, and I can’t get it to take a disc all the way. It goes 3/4 of the way in and stops. Unfortunately I can’t return it, because I removed the PCB board from the previous drive and soldered it into the new one. The PCB board is required to read Xbox games. So now I have a drive that doesn’t work, and I can’t return it because I altered the board. I’m pretty sure I ended up with one that was previously returned, and resold to me. I will be leaving this as a one star review until this is made right. I know I did not damage the board or any internals as I’m a computer tech and do these kind of repairs all the time.

Works wonderful
My old Xbox one disc drive was cooked, so I bought this one and replaced the PCB board from my old drive using a soldering iron with the wires and it worked perfectly!!! (It’s not just a plug and play drive btw!!!)

Kinda works?
I bought this in order to replace my original Xbox disc drive that could no longer read any disc. When it was replaced and put back together, I put the disc in and nothing happened at first. Then I ejected it and put it back in and the second time it read it. For some weird reason, it will not read it sometimes immediately the first time when you put it in, so I don’t know if it’s just a glitch but in a way it’s working???

Be careful of spring on dolly!
Be careful of the tiny spring for the dolly on the lens that puts the tension on the steel bars for the lems to slide. I dobt know if mines didnt come with it but it was missing so the dolly was slack, so when I changed the drive, it wouldnt read because the lems wasn’t moving. I thought it was faulty at first until i noticed how free the lems was sliding up and down and my old drive, the lens remained firmed, i figured out the mechanics of it and noticed the missing tiny spring. I used the tweezers and replaced the spring with the one from the old blu ray player ( be very careful when doing this cus the spring is very small and if that bounces and takes flight? You gatta find another one) once i changed the spring and re installed the new drive, it worked like a charm. Very quiet as well. It wasnt hard at all and I purchased a soldering iron just for this. You literally only have to solder the motor on the board, other that that it works perfectly! Great little project. I feel like a technician now! Lol!

Great replacement for worn drives
Finally got around to installing this drive. The soldering wasn't too bad, I've soldered before so I knew what I was getting into, the two wires are labeled r and b for red and black, I did add more solder, be careful on this one, I assembled everything and the drive didn't even power on, what had happened was that the new soldered material was touching the metal cover so it was grounded, simple fix, I added electrical tape to the inside cover around the area where the red and black wires are and tested it before assembling everything, it loaded the disc right up. I attached a screenshot of Forza motorsport 5 loading up, there was almost no noise from this new drive. Take your time and be mindful of adding new solder and you should have a working Xbox again. Good luck.
