The excellent product I remember!
I haven't owned a pair of Carhartt jeans in over 15 years, closer to 20 as the last time I had them I was working as a carpenter. I now run a welding/fabricating/mechanic/maintenance operation on a fleet of car haulers, so I've been in the market for work wear that has very high demand set on it. After reading some of the lower reviews on here about Carhartt, I was a bit skeptical, but I took sizing into consideration based on reviews for this particular pair of pants. I couldn't be more impressed. These pants fit lovely, exactly the way they did when I was young. They're comfortably firm in the waist, and perfectly loose and flexible everywhere you need tbem to be. I have to roll under trucks, weld in odd inverted positions, crawl out of car windows, and climb trailers all night to secure loads- these pants are exactly what I need. The main deciding factor on choosing these pants is Carhartt's wise decision to move manufacturing back to the U.S.- the same reason I continue to buy Red Wings boots. I'll gladly pay more for superior materials and craftsmanship- and it butters another Americans bread as well, so it is a triple win at that point. The inseam is a bit long on these pants, but who cares? It won't be long before they start to fray out at the bottoms and the extra length will buy me a lot more use out of them. Sign me up for a bunch more, in the market for more Carhartt work wear too- jackets, hoodies, etc. Update: 3-27-17 Took me a year and 4 months to wear out two pairs of these I wore in rotation 7 days a week under very harsh conditions. Just got my first new pair I reordered, I forgot how great they fit when they're new! A fan of these pants as long as they keep making them. Tough as nails! Update 10/8/20: I’ve bought nothing but these pants for the last 5 years now- Amazon keeps them in stock, they arrive fast, the quality and price is great, hasn’t fluctuated price wise at any considerable amount. As long as they keep making em, there’s no reason I’d ever quit buying em! 👍🏿👍🏿❤️❤️

Best work jean ever, but thinner this year?
I own 5 of these and love them... Just bought 2 more( same great cut, but the material is noticeably thinner!! Why change the best work jean ever made??). Great fit and look and very rugged. Comfortably carry wrenches, screwdrivers, channel locks, etc in the side pockets without worry of damaging the pockets. Hammer loop also strong. They come slightly big, but shrink more than most jeans. The color also fades much more than you would expect on the first wash. The weird orange color fades significantly, closer to a more normal light brown. The black, unfortunately, also fades a lot. The double front is great, mainly because you have 2 thick layers to kneel on for jobs with occasional kneeling. You can also slide in some pads they sell thru a hole just below the knee for moderate kneeling work.. It also blocks the wind on my motorcycle better than normal jeans. I also have the overalls for these -be sure to buy them big due to shrinkage. All of my other jeans get holes in the knees or pockets, but these take a lot more abuse with no holes. All of my previous B01 double front carhartt were noticeably stiff for weeks and would actually hold the shape of your body when you take them off ( it sounds weird, but I love them and they break in nicely). The new pairs are thinner and not as stiff... I hope that this does not indicate lower quality. Fyi- there are rivets in several places and on cold mornings I feel the cold thru one on my upper thigh- a tiny dab of something (5 min epoxy, paint, or silicon caulking) to cover it from the inside of the pant sorts that out if it bugs you. In attached photo, I have 14" pipe wrench in hammer loop, and 12" channel locks, 10" crescent and screwdriver... And comfortably climb ladders/work all day without anything falling out.

Double front pants. Decent quality.
Carhartt makes decent quality pants. These are double front pants. I have several pairs of them. However on most new double front Carhartt pants they stopped using the rivets which shows a lack of style and cheapness. Good for working.

Made in the USA
I've only had these for a short time, and they're really quite something. In the past I'd heard of Carhartt in passing conversation, but never actually had a product for myself, so when I needed durable work "khakies" (of sorts) I went for these---I don't regret it. Straight from Amazon I bought my normal size (30x32) and it came in the right waist although perhaps an inch or so longer than expected, but I imagine this would be great for boots as the weather cools down again. In terms of the groin, there's a regular amount of room, no crazy "ballroom" fitting like Duluth (but neither are these $80 pants for scraping your wallet). The material (12oz per yard^2 density) is fantastic, and is so dense that even light water spray or rain does bead on these (although in no way are these waterproof---just like any other cotton product---because it's made of 100% COTTON). Double layering takes place in the front of the leggings from the upper thigh down to the shins, producing a grand total of 24oz per yard^2 density in that area, along with the bottom of the second layer being unstitched from the first to allow for the use of knee pads. Stitching also appears suburb, with "made in the USA" being a plus in addition to the nowadays hard to find "Carhartt" button and tough zipper. The large range of pockets are also a great addition, and something that I've never had before in such a usable package. All the pockets are deep, and apart from your general jeans arrangement there is the addition of a hammer loop on the left leg alongside a "small" (6" deep) pocket, then a similar pocket on the other leg with a duplicate just above it. My time with these pants so far has been on a Tall Ship sailing, running and relaxing, and for all situations apart from anything close to a split these have done well. It seems like it might take some time to wear in these un-"washed" Carhartts, but in the end I think they're going to work out nicely. Even now these are becoming my new favorite pants! Update: After wearing these almost daily for weeks now, I can confidently say these are my new favorite pants in all weather but the rain. They wear in around the edges, though aren't prone to coal dust or dirt stains and are still the same brown color I purchased them as (Carhartt Brown) through numerous washes. Comfort has also been great as I'm able to wear them 24 hours a day (literally, I've slept in them), through a rigorous work day in hot summer weather and---oddly enough---with nothing else on whatsoever. Lastly, the seams are well in order, and nothing had torn or began fraying to pieces---I'll update again if anything changes.

SIZE UP
As always carhartt makes quality gear and these pants are a perfect example of that. They fade and look better, they are thick and very warm in the winter especially with a layer under them. Fit wise my only issue is that I fall for the carhartt trap over and over because they last so long I forget that they run small. So I wear a waste size 36 and that's what I bought. These fit more like a 34. I can wear them but they are snug unless I wear them very high up on my waist. They also have no stretch so it's not something that fits comfortably snug it's like tight. They really should fix their sizing. The newer thinner carhart pants with stretch and all that other stuff seem to be accurate size wise but these guys have always been an issue. I'm probably going to go to a tailor to see if they can add elastic into the waste or something. Pockets, durability, overall look, are all great. I'm just annoyed that I have to get work pants tailored for them to be comfortable.

Solid semi-protective pant; Carhartt sizing can vary a bit
I work in greenhouses, and I am constantly rubbing against thigh-high benches that are either wood or metal with the occasional nail head, piece of chicken wire, or expanded sheet metal sticking out. I have ripped through pants on their first day of use, and had cuts on many occasions. These pants have held up much better than my pairs of inexpensive big brand work pants. I'm on 3 months of wearing these most days, and I wash them at least once/week and any time I use them to apply chemicals to crops. They have faded some, and stained, but that's of no importance to me. Another aspect of my job is varying work environments, and the fact that I am always getting splashed with water. I think these are a good option for most temperatures. They breathe less than jeans and are more comfortable in cool weather, but their loose fit helps them to not be stifling in warm weather. Paired with a decent pair of thermal long underwear, these are perfect for working in almost anything short of sub-zero temperatures. When they get wet they don't tend to stick to you like most pants, and they dry quickly. Fit-wise, for me, the waist is a little loose, the inseam is just right, and the overall fit is somewhat loose, not "late 90's baggy jeans" loose. Quite comfortable once broken in. I expect a loose fit for a work pant to accommodate lots of moving, crouching, kneeling, etc. I've found the inseam on Carhartt pants to vary between product lines, but my normal pant size worked for these "B01" pants.

If you do real work, get these pants!
I ordered extra long 34” inseam with 30” waist and I’m very happy! I work in the Sonoran desert doing bee work and the extra Inseam length fits perfectly around my boots without ever pulling up off of my ankle, which is perfect for keeping bees out of my pants. I feel much safer walking through the brush and cactus, as the double front is thick and gives me the peace of mind to focus on what I’m doing, like carrying heavy equipment or managing angry bees. The waist is a little high and sits just below my belly button, which is not bad but personally took a little getting used to. The pants are extremely sturdy which makes lifting my knee higher than my hip a little difficult, but for most movement they are relatively free-moving. I love all the pockets! Being able to organize my tools is unbelievably useful while I work. I can rely on these pants for any use I put them through. The hammer retainer can be used for a GoPro with a handle as well! In all, I love these pants. They are my dedicated work pants as I don’t trust anything else to keep me as protected as these do. Thanks Carhartt!

The best value motorcycling pants I've ever bought. **And 4 or 5 years later, still are.
I wrote the attached review a few years ago now when I first started wearing carhartts jeans on my motorbike. They quickly became the only brand of jeans I wear on the bike and still are. I particularly like being able to order my exact size, particularly the leg length. I'm a shade over 6' tall, and having heavyweight canvas jeans with 36" legs makes sure there's plenty of material bunched over the tops of my boots to block the wind. They can get a little warm at rest stops on 80+ degree days, on the other hand they protect your legs better when you're back on the road in full sun. I have a several pairs of these dungarees, a couple common-or-garden, a pair of flannel-lined for colder days so I don't have to bother with longjohns/thermals, a pair 2" oversized waist for concealed carry or wearing over thick thermals/sweat pants/Levi's, and the faded old pair with the front knee panel worn through that are still plenty good enough for yardwork. These things last a long time. One last thing - if you wash them inside out, the brass rivets won't smack around the inside of the washer and drier drums, and your vintage t-shirts, quite so hard; and if you dry them on 'Low', you'll have a better chance of fastening them the next time you put them on. *** Original review: I heard about Carhartt work pants as good bike pants over a year ago, and when my last pair of riding jeans wore out, I finally decided to risk $35 to find out. They were right. I've been riding bikes for 35 years, mostly in Lees and Levi's boot cuts, and a decade ago I discovered kevlar lined 'Draggin' Jeans', which are soft, comfortable and great peace of mind for well over a hundred bucks. These Carhartt double fronted dungarees may not protect my ass quite as much as kevlar, but they're as hard as nails and at around forty dollars including tax and freight, I don't need to look any more. These pants are not far short of wire mesh straight out of the box. I washed mine four times on the long cycle, warm, with extra suds before giving them two rinses and throwing three fabric softener sheets in the tumble dryer with them. After more than 2,000 miles on the bike, lots of normal everyday wear and numerous more washes, these pants have not so much attained the soft like-a-deerskin-glove feel that favorite denim jeans do - it feels more as if it's shaping itself to my body....the double front keeps your legs warm from the pocket line to halfway down your shin, where your 8" boots take over. They are not going to get you home dry through a thunderstorm, but they are more rain resistant than denim and they're just fine in light showers or on wet roads. These pants sit most comfortably with the belt line at navel level, and they do it without wedging you. This makes a big difference to how cold your back gets after the first 50 miles. I usually take a 36x34, but got these in a 36x36, which are perfect on a bike - the extra 2" stops them riding up past ankle height, even with feet on highway pegs at 70mph, there's less wind whistling up the canyon, and that helps keep you a lot warmer than those hip hugging waders...now that I'm used to them, I wear these pants all day, everyday, and I don't have to worry about getting changed into something more robust if I see a job that needs doing around the house, garden or garage. I bought one pair to try. After a month and a thousand miles on the bike, I bought another black pair, and a 'Carhartt Brown' (that weird mustardy beige color) pair for gardening, hunting and camping. The pockets are roomy, and I fit my glasses case in the right hand tool pocket, cell phone in the left, and can hang a 4x D-cell torch through the hammer loop. I have a custom made 2" wide leather belt which fits the loops, which it doesn't on 'normal' denim jeans. Because these sit at the waist, I can cinch them up and hang my Buck, Leatherman and a folding tool off it, on top of all the other aforementioned bits and pieces, plus wallet and loose change, all without risking walking out of my trousers. If superheroes wore jeans, this is what they'd wear. They look pretty reasonable for a burger & beer night out, but after a few miles you might want to pull out the designer labels if you're going out to a real restaurant. I'll be interested to see how long these things last. I'm thinking 'a while'.
